COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This unique seasonal product is the world’s only Trappist bock ale. Brewed exclusively with natural ingredients, this ale post-ferments slightly in its bottle. It has a deep red colour, an intensely rich taste, and a malty aroma. Aromatic hop varieties and types of burnt malt render this ale its delicate bitterness that blends surprisingly well with its slightly sweet undertone.

La Trappe Bock has 7% ABV.

Still have to find a La Trappe i actually really enjoy. This one has an excellent appearance with loads of foam, but is again a let down in flavor. It’s a bit sour, with a light bitter and alcohol flavor. Lacks any actual tasty flavors.

Bottle at Delirium Monasterium. Pours clear tawny with a large, frothy beige head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast and nutty malt, dates, earthy and cellar yeast notes. Flavor is sweet toast and nutty malt, earthy hops and yeast with a lightly sweet finish. Full body and moderate carbonation.

Poured to an event shaker at the WCD Trade Expo in Chicago, showing a deep copper color, with a frothy layer of soft white head foam, and spots & streaks of lacing. The nose was caramel & toast, some ready alcohol, and esters as dried fruit, and a bit of cherry. Medium bodied, with fair carbonation, the taste added some earthy bitterness, a bit of citrusy astringency, subtle sweetness, and a somewhat dry finish. Alcohol poked it’s head out in the aroma, but remained rather hidden in the flavor. No matter,... tasty nonetheless.

Pours a dark amber/brown color, topped with a nice beige colored head. Aroma is a bit roasty, some caramel, bread and yeast. Taste follows naturally - sweet start, some caramel and a bit roasty, typical yeasty feel and some bitterness. Decent one.

750-ml bottle from rare beer club. from the hang tag: "La Trappe Bockbier is a bit drier, darker, more bitter and roasted than traditional German Bock. Like many Dutch Bocks, it is a bottle-conditioned ale, not lager." 36 ibu. weird for it not to be a lager. tons of head, malty, caramel, an earthy (bitter?) aspect i didn’t care for. but great with a splash of syrah!
