COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This unique seasonal product is the world’s only Trappist bock ale. Brewed exclusively with natural ingredients, this ale post-ferments slightly in its bottle. It has a deep red colour, an intensely rich taste, and a malty aroma. Aromatic hop varieties and types of burnt malt render this ale its delicate bitterness that blends surprisingly well with its slightly sweet undertone.

La Trappe Bock has 7% ABV.

33cl bottle, pours dark caramel/mahogany. Fast rising beige head. Alcohol, sweet candy & biscuit in the nose. Bit phenolic harsh mouthfeel, a hint of smoked & roasted wood. Flavor predominantly sweet. Sticky to harsh aftertaste. Not my cup of tea.

Dark red to brown color, slightly hazy, brown head. Aroma is caramel, sugar and dark malts. Taste is really sweet. Cramel, toffee and nuts are the first things to come, but after a while the alcohol is really overwhelming, that the beer becomes unbearable. Medium body with medium carbonation.

Bottle - hazy chestnut with a fluffy, rocky and very large orange-brown head. Good retention and okay lacing. Aroma is dusty with yeast and chocolate and some notes of liquorice. Taste is dark fruit, dust, malts and some roasty hints with a mild bitter end and hints of coffee.

Fles. Amberrood, donker. Zoete walm. Stevige schuimkraag. Aroma's zijn rode druiven, pruimen, gedroogd rood fruit, klein beetje bubblegum, klein beetje ipa hop (lychee, ananas). Lekkere combinatie. Karamelachtige bokbiersmaak, ipa hop domineert de evolutie. Droge afdronk, licht zoet. Zoete bok, redelijk brouwsel, maar ik word geen fan van de stijl (bokbier).

Zlotta (130) - Bonn, GERMANY - DEC 28, 2014
0,75 l bottle from Wijnkoperij Bartels in Zwolle. Clear, dark ruby with a foamy, stable, tan head. Fruity, malty aroma of plums, candy sugar, molasses with hints of burnt malts, dark chocolate and coffee in the background. When it warms up some alcohol can be detected as well. Only slightly sweet taste that has less fruitiness as expected from the aroma. Hints of molasses and caramel with a touch of plums. Slightly bitter finish accompanied by coffee and dark chocolate. There is some smoke in the background as well. Medium to full body, average carbonation, oily mouthfeel. Very delicious and quite unusual for a bockbeer. Its subtle sweetness is well opposed to the hoppy bitterness. It reminds me of the "Best Brewjob ever" by Freigeist and Nøgne Ø which I drank some days ago.

Brown beer with a red glow. Nice head. Fruity, rich aroma. Full body, medium carbonation. Sweet, bitter taste with bitter aftertaste. Surprisingly rich for a reasonably light beer.

A nice sharp malt, with decent bitterness. light caramel undertone. I’m not getting a lot of flavor undertones, but just enough to add some complexity,

0,33 l bottle. A darkest red brown in the glass, mighty light tanned head. Berriefruits and sweet malt on the nose. Starts malty, lower fruity, background sweetness. Later more toffee and chocolate, mit bitterness. Alcoholic in the background. Darkfruity ending. No typical bock.

djoeye (1984) - Tromsø, NORWAY - DEC 10, 2014
Dark brown body with ruby tones, tan standing head, smooth thick lacing. Mild aroma but; lots of fermented fruits and berries, caramel malts, mild mild hops. Taste; fruity malts, herbal hops, fruits, berries, plums, almonds, nuts, dark malts, syrup, and a dark juicy lasting finish with fruity chocolate notes. Feels well bodied, ok carbonation. Overall a fruity dunkel bock beer. [33cl brown btl, abv7%, #K02H13 BB08-2016, B@Vinmonopolet Tromsdalen, 6€, T@höme]

Donkerrood/bruin bier met mooie beige schuimkraag. Geroosterde caramel met donker fruit in de neus. Lekker mondgevoel met kandijsuiker en mout, bitterige nasmaak. Helemaal niet de traditionele bock!
