Dark clear ruby brown with a thick creamy tan head that diminishes quickly leaving a good lace. Typical plummy bock aromas of munich malts, sundried raisins and plum jam. Full bodied, well balanced, all on the munich malts and finishing on a chocolate note. Nice bock.

Bottle - 330ml. Hazy dark brown body with an average off-white foamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with brown sugar and fruity hints. Taste carries vineous, fruity notes and ends with a moderately warming bittersweet finish. Decent Bockbier.

Pours a thick white medium dense head. Very dark amber. Aroma is mostly dark chocolate, roasted coffee .. still a bit thin. Medium sweet, medium bodied, alot of hops along with a thin malt,, rather thin texture, lively carb, finished way too fast for this type of Ale. I was expecting more .. as I was with the rest of the La Trappe line ... The only La Trape that has really caught me was an old Quatruppel, think it was 4-5 years in the bottle. Not too bad overall, value is 6/10.

Mouthfeel is round and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, slightly bitter, malty and tiny metallic with bread and cloves.

MADpalace (118) - Budel, NETHERLANDS - MAR 14, 2012
Ruby/brown/red with little caramel/yello color, a bit mysterious. Nice sweet abbey with fresh malt smell. Heavy bitter, strong low taste. A bit more heavier as to be expected from a bock-beer that has a mild smell and looks warm. After a few sips found some flavours of melted plastics which is not nice.
