Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Dec 15, 2008 Bottle. My least favorite of the La Trappe offerings. Pours an amber hazy body with a tan head. Sweet caramel, and toasted grain, over ripe cherry and grape, candi sugar and subtle alcohol. altacyr (144), Campinas, Brazil Dec 7, 2008 Tom entre o vermelho e o laranja, espuma densa. Sabor acentuado, ligeiramente adocicado. NoiZe (1288), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands Dec 7, 2008 Dark brown colored brew. Dark fruits and some sweetness in the aroma. Flavor of caramel, dark fruits, some burned malts, some sweetness. A bit too watery, could be thicker and have more strong flavors. french tickler (642), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada Dec 1, 2008 Shared with Pyrozoid. Light cloudy copper poor with a thin beige head. Aromas of dates, grapes, cherries, red wine vinegar and caramel. Medium body, creamy, good balance between bitter and sweet. Flavors of ripe dark fruits added cherries, candi sugar and nutty. Classic dubbel. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Nov 29, 2008 (Bottle). Aroma is yeasty and fruity. Dark red body, light tan head. Flavor is surprisingly somewhat bland for the style, though not unpleasant. Ripe fruit, sweet, but a little watery. Not much finish. JonnyDr (132), , South Yorkshire, England Nov 27, 2008 Reddy brown beer with large tan head. Caramel odour. Caramel, coffe, honey, cloves and toffee. Wonderful for the style. kpresley77 (133), Jackson, Georgia, USA Nov 21, 2008 Bottle pours opaque brown/red with very little white head. Aroma is nutty and some dark fruits. First taste is somewhat sweet with dark fruits being the main flavor then there is a nutty flavor present as well. The finish is clean with slight linger of sweetness and nuts. The alcohol is hidden very well.
