Beth101 (315), West Yorkshire, England Sep 21, 2008 Smelt sweet. Colour of coke with a large of white head. Sweet and syrupy but not much flavour it was smooth and thick. fata2683 (836), Panama City, Florida, USA Sep 14, 2008 From the corked stone bottle. Nicely packaged beer that doesn’t disappoint. Pours a murky brown with a light tan head. Smells wonderfull....spice, hops, cedar. Tastes slightly sweet, really is nicely balanced with bitterness. Excellent. lievenvh (13), , Belgium Sep 7, 2008 caramel, toast, brown, sparkling, tan foam, full body, average carbonation, long finish, trapez (766), Hilleroed, Denmark Sep 7, 2008 Stone bottle. Clear dark red-brown colour with almost no head. Ripe fruits aroma. Also fruits - maily raisins in taste - rather sweet. A bit alcoholic bitter aftertaste. Low carbonation. mjs (1445), Helsinki, Finland Sep 3, 2008 (Draught at Old Bank, Turku, on 2008-08-29) Dark reddish brown. Clear. Hardly any head. Light malty nose. Full bodied palate with little carbonation. Chocolate, bitterness, fruitiness and slighty berry like flavours in taste. KiwiJonno (70), Christchurch, New Zealand Aug 29, 2008 500mL Bottle. Pours a red beer with a fast disappearing head. Aroma of spices, with yeast and malt. Sweet beer though most Dubbels are. Tastes similar to its aroma. Cherry-Fruit flavours evident. This Dubbel seemed lacking flavour and was short finishing compared to others. Perhaps I was too wow’ed with the bottle and expected more. Very drinkable though. Skidds (252), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Aug 26, 2008 Like all trappist beers; this one is very flavourful and well balanced. Darker fruits (prunes, raisins), roasted malts, caramel, coffee. Finish is a tad bitter. Excellent Ober (1158), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands Aug 26, 2008 A little hazy ruby/brown colored beer, with a small beige head. The aroma of yeast and malts with some dark fruits. The taste of sweet caramel, with cherry fruits. A smooth and little thin beer. It’s not a bad beer at all.
