Apr 27, 2008 Bottle at Le Bistro des Bieres Belge. The color is dark reddish with a dark beige head. The aroma and flavor are of sweet fruits and caramel added. It has a nice sour finish to it that makes it very pleasant.

Apr 13, 2008 Bottle (330ml). Poured a very deep ruby brown (almost black) with a large, fluffy, tanned head which was mostly lasting. Aroma was of sweet caramel malts with sweet dates, raisins with some Cadbury’s Curly Wurly chocolate. Flavor was a mild bitterness with sweet toffee malts, raisins, dates, chocolate (mild) with a light peppery finish. Hide its alcohol content very well. Medium bodied with medium carbonation, syrupy texture, dry mouthfeel and a good finish.

Apr 12, 2008 Pours dark brown, opaque with an obnoxious amount of foam. Settles down to a 1 inch light tan head. Aroma of dull darker malts, grape and plum. Tastes like smooth rich malt, nuts, hops, and dark fruit sugars. A little burn going down. Mouthfeel is medium, and a little thick but not too much. It has a good bite. Finish is a little heavy.

Apr 12, 2008 Dark ruby with a dense head. Caramel, toffee, chocolate, and biscuits dominates this very nice dubbel. A very lively mouthfeel with a lot of tingling carbonation makes this one of the better dubbels I’ve tasted.

Apr 11, 2008 Bottle - 330ml. Pours a dark amber/brown hazy body with a thin off-white foamy head. its well balanced malty/hoppy aroma carries sweet and fruity hints. Taste hides the alcohol pretty well. Ends with a long bittersweet finish. Good Dubbel.

Apr 9, 2008 BOTTLE: Koningshoeven Dubbel, nice tan head. Floral aroma, slight lacing. Flavor is nice, not overly sweet, a hint of vanilla at the back of the tongue. Palate is not overwhelming, somewhat bubbly but short finish. Nice beer but clearly not one of the best trappists.

Apr 9, 2008 Bottle at Rhino, westend Toronto. Dark Brown with cream head. Fruity yeast aroma. Bubbly caramel taste, not as sweet or refined as Quad.
