Rotorhead87 (117), Temple, Texas, USA Jun 4, 2007 Starts with a malty caramel flavor that gives way to a milder flavor with some fruitiness as well. A fairly simple trappist but still quite good. Their quad is better and more complex, so it gets my vote. leeburg (146), Juneau, Alaska, USA May 31, 2007 $2.99 for this 33cl. I really like this Dubbel. I will admit it isn’t the best of them, but it doesn’t claim to be. Dark red/brown like the others have said with a healthy head. Drinkable, carbonated, smooth and fresh. I’m giving a high rating in spite of the simplicity. I could drink it all the time. rsistare (9), Troy, Michigan, USA does not count May 29, 2007 This rating is for the Dubbel, however the label differs slightly. As an official trapp brew, I was slightly dissappointed by the simplicity of the palate. Typically, I am accustomed to multiple levels of flavor.
However, this brew had a strong hue and a delicous nose - overall not the best but I would buy again. mike1977ok (633), Netherlands May 29, 2007 Dark red brown colour, thin quick fading head. Great balanced aroma with a little malt, hop and spice present. Warm, rounded taste with some caramel sweetness and malt. Clean aftertaste making it very drinkable.
screwball (796), Motala, Sweden May 29, 2007 Body is red-brown with a great begie creamy head. Beautiful !! The taste and flavor is malty and has a fresh fruityness to it. Sweet. Little thin. MrBeachtwig (42), Sandared, Sweden May 25, 2007 Bottle. Wonderful deep red colour with big head. Nice kind of sweet taste, a bit fruity. Too little body though and taste dissapears a bit too quickly. Had better beer of this style. IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA May 23, 2007 Bottle pours a deep mahogany/brown with a full lasting creamy tan head. Aroma is brown sugar, apples, cinimon and dark pitted fruits. Flavor was similar, apple butter and dark malts. Very little bitterness, smooth rich feel, lively carbonation. great example of the style.
Thanks Jordan. jake65 (1657), Williston, North Dakota, USA May 23, 2007 Bottle: Amber ruby color with a large beige head and nice lacing. Nose is fruity, malty, yeast, wine, and a bit of raison. On par for the style. Tastes sweet with dark fruits, malt, and a crisp finish. A little caramel sweetness with the maltiness smooths it out. Thank you Jordan for sharing this.
