| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 8, 2007 Bottle. Luscious dark malt nose, plums with dark fruit, subtle spice, and faint brown sugar. Deep dark dull red body with strong carbonation and an excited tanned head. Sweet taste of dark fruit. Bubblegum and plum. Velvety malt doesn’t match the carbonation, and body is too thin, even for a dubbel. Aftertaste is kinda bland. Very slightly warming. Wow, didn’t think I was going to kill this - it’s good! - but it’s just a little too uninteresting. garthicus (1273), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 5, 2007 Bottled: Beer served too cold, excuse me while I give myself an uppercut. Poured a deep copper with a tan medium head. Quite active carbonation, the aroma featured stewed fruit, plums, brown sugar, grapes and alcohol. Flavour was similar - stone fruit, leather, alcohol up front and a touch of pepper. Balanced by a light bitter finish. Quite nice but not quite up to some of its trappist brothers IMO. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 22, 2007 Bottle. Aroma is wonderful. Lots of fruit. Grapes, cherries, figs, some pear... all sitting under a blanket of caramel malt sweetness. Appearance is a nice clear amber, with a steady big head of white foam which laces beautifully. Flavor is sweet but well balanced, a touch of alcohol punctuated by the aformentioned fruits. Palate is very nice, hearty and balanced.
