Sugary sweet aroma, thick with candi sugar. The taste is... well, barely there. Pretty watery and just a little sweetness. Not bad, but it doesn’t offer much and is really a disappointment. 7/4/5/3/13 Re-rate 3/27/2008: Dark copper color with a large head. Strong yeasty aroma, lots of fresh bread and sweet malt. The flavors are much stronger this time around. More sweet malt and bread, with a fair amount of spice (primarily cloves). EHSRanders (1121), Randers C, Denmark

The head was off-white and two-fingers plus in height. The aroma was restrained which is unfortunate as it had tons of character. Dominated by what I would call stone or rocks. Some definite floral (lavender) and spice with yeast noted as well. The flavor was malt and faint spice with even fainter chocolate. Enjoyable, just incredibly restrained. Mouthfeel was a bit watery. rane (496), Nibe, Denmark
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 24, 2007 Bottle. Redbrown beer with huge palebrown head, long lasting. Nice aroma sweet and fruits. Good taste sweet with malt notes. A light beer compared to many other dubbels but very wellcomposed and drinkable. I liked it very much. AskForJenny (632), Ontario, New York, USA

Nice rich flavour, smooth and slightly spiced. Caramel and liquorice mixed in. Good finish with a slight tangyness. Lovely beer. Has character. hombrepalo (757), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 12, 2007 Had this in the Netherlands, Excellent abbey dubbel. Great appearance, fruity aroma, trappist yeast... not as complex or strong as other abbey beers which makes it excellent for beginners (and experts). Muggus69 (506), Sydney, Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2007 Serving this bottle at roughly cellar temperature. Roasted malts, nuts and some dark fruits on the nose, plum and cherry possibly, with a bit of sweetness in there. Surupy dark brown body with some off-white lace. Body is not as rich as I would have wanted. Flavour is quite well balanced, some toffee and nuts, drying black coffee, a tannic dark cherry quality in there. Not as rich as other examples of the style, which is a bit disappointing. Still a very nice beer regardless!
