Deep copper tinted brown beer with a thin tan head. Aroma is yeasty, with plenty of fruit. The flavor was moderately sweet, lightly acidic and lightly bitter with a long, lightly sweet, lightly acidic/tangy finish. Unclean aftertaste.

This Abbey dubbel pours a deep reddish color from a 33cl bottle. Large sized beige foamy head, with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma is malty, brown sugar, dark fruits and sweet. A medium bodied dubbel. The malts are fruity and sweet, touch of sherry and port. The hops are earthy and mild. Lively carbonation. Lots of malt sweetness and some chocolate. Kind of one dimensional. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and sweet. Aftertaste is sweet.

Bottle labeled "Koningshoeven Dubbel Trappist Ale". Beer poured with absolutely no head whatsoever (okay, maybe a wee little bit)...very little lacing. Smell was winey with alcohol present. Taste was atypical of other dubbels I’ve had...VERY winey taste with apple/cherry undertones. This beer is a "wannabe" as someone called it below. Very unimpressive.

Pored dark brown with a touch of red. More Syruppy and less carbonated than other Dubels I’ve tried. Nice

750mL bottle, no date. Clear ruby with a 2 1/2 finger fairly creamy lasting beige head. This isn’t as dark as most dubbels I’ve come across. Powdered sugared raisins, brown sugar, and scorched caramel are the most up front. There is also some light roasted malts and Belgian yeast. Flavor has the addition of hazelnut and some slight acidic tang from maybe some grape characteristics. Dry finish. Fairly smooth medium body with moderate carbonation. I enjoyed this more than the tripel--quite nice.

Draft...a rich brown ale with an apple-like aftertaste. There are some sour flavors to go along with the sweet. Carbonation less than what I’m used to with this style. Overall not bad, but not my favorite Abbey Dubbel.
