"Discover this genuine dark Trappist beer with a gentle flavour, creamy head and pronounced bouquet.
La Trappe Dubbel has a deep brown colour and attractive beige froth. The use of caramel malt gives it a gentle aromatic caramelised quality. It has a rich malty flavour with a touch of sweetness. Post-fermenting La Trappe Dubbel is a smooth drink, and yet has some real body and intense flavour to it.

Very dark beer, with a dark brown head. Not a lot on the nose apart from sweetness and a bit of doughy yeast. Becomes a lot more interesting in the mouth; licorice and hops play a bitter-sweet tag around the full bready yeast. Lingers to a long dark bitter aftertaste. I was surprised by how nice this was, La Trappe, for me, have been a "well, if nothing better is going" brewer. But this, their dubbel, just works well.

Extraordinaire !

A 330ml bottle with a best before date of July 2016, poured into a Chimay goblet glass. It poured a deep dark brown / amber colour with a one finger beige head that dissipated fairly quickly but left nice lacing. Aromas of raisins, dried cherry, toasted malts, caramel, toffee and bubblegum. Tastes of sweet dark stone fruits of plum, prunes, raisin and cherry, grape juice, banana and a light toffee finish. Creamy, medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall a very nice Dubbel that is tasty and easy to drink.

Rödbrun ale med vitt skum. Lätt arom av torkad frukt, dadel, hasselnötter. Fyllig sötma och rund smak av mörk kandisirap, russin och fikon. Härlig trappist.

Bottle at the Royal Standard, Cambridge. Reddish-brown, thin. Very little visible carbonation. Fruit caramel on the aroma. The malt scent is too naked for my liking, giving the scent an almost artificial note. Exceedingly sweet taste with yeast, chocolate and hazelnut notes. Slips down like a dream, the carbonation is well-judged and the alcohol is warming. Not a top top Dubbel in my book but very good.

Bottle, 75cl. Pours deep, dark ruby-red with huge, foamy beige head. Lots of lacing that remains stable like forever. Lovely. Intense and rich nose. Caramel malt, yeast, red fruits of ripe berries along some spices. Makes you think of candy sugar. Medium-heavy sweet fruity, caramel and yeasty flavour. Dark fruits and eastery sensation. Brown sugar and brandy. Roasted, almost burnt taste. Weak, almost no bitterness. Plesant warming alcohol in dry, long finish with dark fruits being dominant. Full bodied, medium carbonation and oily texture. Wow.

Bottle. Fruity aroma, mostly pear. Later sweet and spicy notes appear. Deep copper / brown, clear, medium and short lasting head. Medium sweet taste, caramel, fruits, no bitterness. Medium body and carbonation, Decent, but not really a beer to remember

Weltklasse!!!! Free Probierschlückchen vom Hahn(2x0,1l) im CRAFT BEER SHOP HH. Bier 2/7!!!!!
