I had this on tap at the Thirsty Monk in Asheville, NC under the Koningshoeven Dubbel Trappist Ale name. Beautiful ruby red with a slight apple/pear undertone without being sweet... absolutely yummy.

[ASPETTO] color marrone scuro con riflessi porpora, piuttosto limpida [SCHIUMA] color beige, buona presenza, media finezza e persistenza [ OLFATTO ] buona intensità: lieviti, malti tostati, caramello, zucchero.

Pours very dark amber with bubbly brownish white head that leaves some lacing on the glass while quickly dissipating. Smell is sweet, spicy and slightly metallic with dark bread, prunes, caramel and yeast. Taste is sweet, bitter and metallic with dark bread, banana bread, raisins, prunes, soy sauce, hazelnuts and yeasty esters. Finish is slightly sweet and rather bitter with dark bread and spices.

330 ml bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours clear dark brown with a big light tanned head. Aroma of aramel. Taste is the same, malty caramel and some spicy hops. Nothing complex here, but a drinkable beer anyhow.

33 cl bottle @ home. Dark ruby with a tan head. Yeasty aroma with some dark fruits (grapes, blackberries). Roasted malts in the taste and a hint of coffee. Sweet with a pleasant bitterness. Good dubbel!

Dark brown color, nice light brown head, medium/light bitterness. I particulary like this "dubbel", because, besides the regular "dubbel"-taste, it also has a nice added sweetness that i like

Bottle. Dark brown with a medium-sized, creamy head. Aroma is banana, biscuits, caramel, yeast, blackberries, some light vinousness and soft spices. Medium body, velvety mouthfeel. Taste is sweetish, aromatic, fruity-caramelly-biscuity, with a sweet-bitter finish and an aftertaste of spices, biscuits, banana, caramel, chocolate and blackberries. Complex, soft and rich dubbel.
