Off-white long-lasting thick head. Red-brown clour, bittersweet flavour, fruity aftertaste. It is as much a pleasure to contemplate as to drink it.

A very nice dubbel from La Trappe. Aroma is the highlight of the beer, being very hearty and robust, with artichoke, plum, cherry, a little sweetness. Pours a dark brown with a nice head that quickly fades, leaving a little lacing. Taste is veggies, belgian malt flavors, caramel, a bit of cocoa perhaps. Palate is nice but could be a good bit creamier.

Bottle (330ml). At Ciro’s - bottle probably 2 years old. Poured flat light active brown with a huge flock of white floaties and a thin off-white head. Aroma very yeasty, brown sugar / caramel malt, plenty of spices (cloves, nutmeg, pepper), raisins and prunes, alcohol - overall very sweet rich malty but a touch sour to my nose. Taste is on the light side but very smooth, sweet roast candy malts, ripe apple, plum, apricot, spices (cloves, cinnamon, coriander), hardly any hop or alcohol bitterness - lovely, the yeasties don’t detract at all. Mouthfeel very lively, a bit sticky-sweet. Apart from the visual detraction of the yeasties, a solid abbey dubbel.

Tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Mahogany pour with the remnants of a tan head. Malt, yeast, dates, and fruits in the nose. Velvety mouthfeel. Earthy and yeasty, with a sweet malt, plums, and some banana esters.

One of the last bottles from Koningshoeven 4 pack in Memphis. I’m very disapointed that the local distributor is dropping this brand. This was one of the better Dubbel’s available here in Memphis. It will truly be missed!
