Refreshing, beautiful dubbel. the 11.2 is appropriate for one person. The 750 should be for two or more though. Very sweet and spicy. A good buy
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Uglyradio (791) - Greenville, South Carolina, USA - MAR 4, 2003
Pours a dark, clear brown color with a big tan head that lingers. The aroma is strongly malty sweet with hints of plums and raisons. Full body with low carbonation, the flavor is thick and richly malty, with hints of caramel and chocolate. The finish is lingering sweet with a touch of chocolate. One of the better doubles I have had, this one is nice and malty, much like a doppelbock. Excellent.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2007 Pours hardly any head so no lace. Cloudy amber color. Light-medium carbonation. Medium bodied. Nose is distinctly raisins, starts sweet but not cloying, finishes smooth and mellow. Another excellent trappist. 750ml bottle for $7.99 from Hoosick St. Discount Bev, Troy, NY.
From my notes 6/6/2007 pours one-finger light tan head that fades quickly to a ring leaving a good lace. Deep mahogany color. Caramel nose. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Flavor is a nutty brown and some caramel. On-tap for €2.40 ($3.29) for a 250ml chalice from Corner House Cafe Amsterdam, NL

Koningshoeven 4pk. - purchased in Norman at hob nob robs. Fantastic nose pours dark red with tan bubbly head. I used a Chimay glass which felt right. The taste was right in line with many of the Belgian Trappist ales with a bit more chocolate/caramel maltiness. Very nice.

On tap at Beer Bistro. It pours a beautiful ruby red, wonderful ripe fruit aftertaste, with a clean smooth finish. Essential that it is served in a trappist glass to experience the aroma.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 arhythmt (69) - USA - SEP 25, 2004
A good dubbel, particularly after it’s been aged for a few years or so. Otherwise this one can be a bit harsh, almost like Chimay Blanche somehow (which is odd). Over time, though, this beer becomes at least as smooth as any decent triple-style beer.
