Quite good. Ruby red in color. Sharp flavors when compared to the other dubbels. Very sweet.

Mohagany body is clear except for a few stray rafts of yeast. Small, frothy cream-colored head. Pungent aroma of figs, dark candy sugar, red wine, prunes, and a note of leather. Flavor comes across like a sweet liqueur with lots of fig and molasses. Lingering flavor of dark fruit skins which seems to contribute some bitterness. Medium full, sweet palate with chewy texture. A good dubbel.

In the 750 ml bottle. Pours a rich brown with a thick beige head. Aroma of raisens and chocholate. Body is a little lighter than it should be, but not by much. A good warm complex ale with a fruity strong flavor. Decent alcohol mouth for such a mid-range abv.

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2007 Ruddy brown colour beer with long lasting off white head. The aroma is malty, smells like malt loaf with currants, raisins and spices. The taste is similar with the yeastiness coming through. A good beer but lacks a little depth.

Bottle. Strong plum, molasses aroma. Orange/reddish brown cloudy color with small head. Moderately sweet molasses malt flavor - lightly smokey. Smooth finish - just the lightest hint of bitterness. Nice smooth dubbel.
