mjs (512), Helsinki, Finland Sep 3, 2008 (Draught at Old Bank, Turku, on 2008-08-29) Dark reddish brown. Clear. Hardly any head. Light malty nose. Full bodied palate with little carbonation. Chocolate, bitterness, fruitiness and slighty berry like flavours in taste. Kiwi_Jonno (41), Christchurch, New Zealand Aug 29, 2008 500mL Bottle. Pours a red beer with a fast disappearing head. Aroma of spices, with yeast and malt. Sweet beer though most Dubbels are. Tastes similar to its aroma. Cherry-Fruit flavours evident. This Dubbel seemed lacking flavour and was short finishing compared to others. Perhaps I was too wow’ed with the bottle and expected more. Very drinkable though. Skidds (180), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Aug 26, 2008 Like all trappist beers; this one is very flavourful and well balanced. Darker fruits (prunes, raisins), roasted malts, caramel, coffee. Finish is a tad bitter. Excellent Ober (299), Best, Netherlands Aug 26, 2008 A little hazy ruby/brown colored beer, with a small beige head. The aroma of yeast and malts with some dark fruits. The taste of sweet caramel, with cherry fruits. A smooth and little thin beer. It’s not a bad beer at all. blipp (724), Grand Island, New York, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours very dark orange with a beige head. Aroma is fruity and yeasty. Flavor has apple, spice, and yeast. Nice.
