COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
La Trappe Isid’or was specially brewed to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Beerbrewery de Koningshoeven and was named after Brother Isidorus, the first brewer of the O.L.V. Koningshoeven Abbey. The first brew of this ceremonial beer was aged in oak barrels. This aging ensures the balanced and rich taste of this unique, exclusive Isid’or Oak Aged.

Caramel yeast aroma. Full bodied with distinguished lasting head and excellent lacing. Initially sweet with a distinguished earthy finish and quickly evaporating aftertaste.

Better than the regular version, though I had them months apart. dry and yeasty, flavor of pitted dark fruits works really well here...

Bright clear red - amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry with fine carbonation. Light dry creamy malt, whisper of caramel. Mild dried fruits. Light bubblegum ester. Light dry finish. Fine but something of a let down, was expecting much more.

Bottled. Pours clear and light amber with an average, creamy, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma of spices, caramel, wood and with notes of yeast. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with a hint of bitterness. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A nice brew.

Even after aging 1 year this is the worst beer I’ve ever had. The finish is pure wood. Like chewing on a toothpick

Porzadne piwo. Moze mialo niewielka piane pachnialo niesamowicie. Melasa, zasuszonymi kwiatami, sliwka, kompotem z suszu. A w smaku jakby dominowal aromat drewna wilgotnego, spruchnialego. Podobalo mi sie i zwlaszcza te estry. Octowe lekko i wytrawne. Niewielka slodycz na poczatku, ale momentalnie piwo w smaku staje sie wytrawne jak wino. Arcy ciekawe piwo, moze smak zawdziecza lezakowaniu poniewaz nabylem to piwo jakies 4 lata temu. Jeden minus to gumowy, syntetyczny korek ktory ciezko wyciagnac. Do takiego piwa nie przystoji taki tandetny korek.

Pours a burnt orange with a thin off white cap. The aroma is sweet, burnt sugars, caramel, alcohol, honey, dark fruits, candied oranges, oak. The flavour follows suit more or less, sweet, Belgian brewing sugars, candied orange, honey, caramel, alcohol. Mouth feel is a little too light to support everything going on, little oily. Still, solid, enjoyable, no complaints really.

Shared 11.2 oz.? bottle poured to snifters, showing a murky, deep brown color, with a light layer of tan foam, and dots & dashes of lacing. The aroma was dark fruit, light spice, and substantial malt, with caramel & syrupy sweetness. With no indication in the nose, smoke and charred wood showed up unannounced in the taste to blend quite nicely with the former notes. Medium bodied, with soft carbonation and mellow alcohol, the finish remained sweet. Appropriately positioned as the final brew in our tasting session, as a tasty aperitif.
