Bottle at home. It has been sitting in the back of the cupboard for a while. Date on the bottle is 01 / 2012. Probably past its best. Caramel candy floss aroma, touch of soap in there as well. Some yeast. Amber colour big lively cream head. Flavour is mid sweet caramel some canned raisin. Medium duration. Toffee apple. Dryish finish.

In short: A yeasty copper Belgian ale with nice grassy hopping. Good beer.
How: Bottle 750ml, corked & caged, consumed 1.5 year before expiration date.
The look: Cloudy dark amber body topped by a medium off-white head with medium retention.
In long: Nose is yeasty, some phenols and with a surprisingly strong grassy-spicy hop presence. Taste is very yeasty upfront, toasted tobacco, a bit of caramel, roasted tree bark, fruity notes (no specific fruit). This leads to a nice dry grassy-spicy herbal hoppy finish. Relatively low sweetness sensation for the style and with a finish that is also rather dry for the style. More hoppy than most similar classic abbey style yeasty Belgian amber ales. Splendid mouthfeel, full, foamy, lively carbonation. Very easy to drink beer, before I knew it I my 750ml was empty. One of the many 750ml I drank at this dinner gathering, and it was only the morning after when I woke up with a monster hangover that I realized how loudly my wife blinks.

I provrummet på Klostret La Trappe. Fantastisk miljö som kanske påverkar omdömet (plus att man testat flera öl innan ) men frisk god bra maltsmak . Saknar lite beska i slutet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy burnt caramel with a two finger creamy beige head. Aroma is caramel, corn syrup candies, yeast, faint spice, malt, citrus. Delicious. The taste is drier than the nose would suggest. Medium bodied with light notes of dark dried fruits, plum, bread, a nice spicy note in the finish, as well as a taste that makes me think green beans. Weird. Nonetheless, easy drinking for 7.5%, and well worth trying.

Discreta!
