COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

33cl bottle at home from Mitra, Maarssen. Body is fizzy, clear to opalescent, amber, head is medium, tan, fizzy, average lasting, no lacing. Nose is dried fruits, flavor is caramel, herbs, spices, liqueurish, wineish, raisin. Medium to heavy sweet, light bitter, light sour. Finish is long lasting fruity medium sweet, light hoppy bitter, medium alcohol warmth. Medium to full body, sticky texture, lively carbonation. Light dessert beer, not too easy, too much alcohol in the flavor for ABV 7.5, interesting though.

Pours a hazy golden with a small white head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of bananas, light spices and sugar. Taste is of bananas, caramel and moderately bitter. Body is medium, carbonation moderate and mouthfeel a little fluffy. Overall a nice belgian ale, glad to see that in our grocery stores!

lesifflebiere (1406) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 1, 2015

Bottle - Pours a hazy amber with a fairly large, rocky, lasting head. Sweet malt and caramel aromas, nice. Rich, well balanced malt flavors. Well made, but not my favorite style.

Bon produit dans l’ensemble... Les levures sont très présentes et particulières en fait. Je sens aussi la pore et les biscuits. J’ai bien aimé!

Complex aroma. Light malty scents of toasted grains, yeasty scents of dough, soap, banana bubble gum and cherry. Huge, long lasting, off white head with excellent lacing. Poured carefully, bottle conditioned clear, medium amber orange body. Initial, light bitter sweet flavour and medium, bitter sweet finish of average duration. Light to medium body. Watery texture with lively carbonation and a dry chalky finish. Overall, a very nice beer!
