Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

330ml bottle from Vanuxeem. Massive, brilliantly blended taste that has a lot in common with the tripel style. Rich, full bodied and an absolute joy to drink.

Bu en bouteille de 33cl, une couleur brune avec une mousse bien présente, en bouche on ressent beaucoup le côté fruité un peu banane et un peu fruit rouge très sympa !

A very peculiar belgian ale. Amber colour, nice white persistent head, "woody" aroma. Its taste is somehow more bitter and tannic than the other belgians, maybe because of the wheat malt. Never tasted something like that before.

Botella de 330ml. Caliz La Trappe. Cooper color, orangish amber to the light & cloudy appearance. Intense caramel malt & Belgian yeast aromas, orange hues, as well as biscuit, herbal, flowery & phenolic notes. Sweet mild toasted flavor & spiced touch at first sip. Medium to full body. Moderate to soft carbonation. Oily texture & kind warming & well integrated ABV. In the middle, fruity, delicate & low bitterness rounded by gentle notes of wood resolve in a very subtle citric zest astringency. Sweet/bitter finish. Fruity aftertaste & spicy hints. Refreshing, flavorful & suggested for a paused drink !!

30 cl. bottle, thanks Gem! Pours amber and cloudy. Active body supports an enduring quarter inch of creamy-crunchy foam. Aroma of spicy banana, earthy honey and toasted walnut. Flavors of banana-walnut bread, sourish apple and honey are tempered by an earthy spiciness, lightly tart berry notes and a woody hop bitterness. Light-medium body has a nice balance and high carbonation that’s mostly smooth.

Bottle. Reddish-brown with a light brown medium sized head. Aroma has yeast and some fruit. Taste has apple, wood, yeast and ripe fruit. Well rounded but lacks character. Alcohol is well hidden as usual. Bit cidery.

330ml bottle, poured into a La Trappe Trappist glass. Appearance is opaque dark amber with a small beige head that reduced slowly and left no lacing. Aroma of apricots, white raisins and caramel. Flavours of white raisins, caramel, toffee, apricots, black pepper and a hint of banana. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Palate is medium bodied, smooth texture and average carbonation. The beers from De Koningshoeven have a classy looking bottle and label, and their Trappist glass is also beautiful. La Trappe Isid’or is an excellent Belgian Ale, however quite expensive.
