Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Orange pour, white head. Great aroma of burnt orange, candied sugar, raisins, prunes and dates. Flavor of yeast, fruit, sweet toffee. Yum!

The taste varies over good and exciting shades like caramel, brown sugar, raisins, plums, dates, honey, green apple, pear and a little dark rye bread. Carbonation is soft and weak, and it releases just the flavor nuances so you get full value for money. Although it is a little on the weak side of what are called strong beer (I mean over 9%), then I think certainly it can be stored dark and cool to develop even more over the years. The hops are present, but in a fresh way where it finally tastes a little bitter of fresh grass and citrus. The finish is medium dry.

Alcool oblige. Pours a slightly hazy copper colour with minimal to no lasting head. Aroma is brown sugar, figs, plums, bready yeast and a slightly grassy hop. Taste is initially sweet and then very dry and medium bitter. Nice natural lively carbonation and lingering flavour. Nice!

Sulfur mineral aroma, lager like at first pour but then changes into a sweet bready maltiness with spicy Belgian yeast Pours a very cloudy amber with bubbly small off white head that lasts Strong yeasty spiciness in flavor with bready malts. Candy like sweetness, caramel, raisin. Sweet alcohol flavor. Medium-full bodied with high soft CO2 bubbles. Lingering sticky sweet yeasty spice finish Drinkable, but not one of the better Trappist ales out there. Wouldn't buy again, but glad I got to try it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a little flat for a trappist. Aroma is almost skunky at first, but upon further inspection the alcohol and plum smells come out. Heavily carbonated on the palate. Decent sipping beer.
