Oeh I like this deep dark amber bee named after the Monk who made the recipe. Nice big white head of foam. Tones of lightly roasted nuts, thin caramal sause, vanilla and some flowers. Very lovable with a not too high alc. perc.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Orange slightly hazy beer with a typical Belgian head, blonde, creamy and quite persistent leaving some lacing. Aroma has crisp and sweet apple and some yeast. Taste is sweet and has apples, a bit syrupy sappy. Mouthfeel is pretty full and carbonated. Alcohol warms up a bit and starts tasting towards the end of the glass. Figs come up in the finish which is syrupy, dry and slightly bitter. A bit weird apple-tasting Belgian beer.

Gedronken van de tap en fles @ konings hoeve. dit bier proeft wat zachter dan de quadrilles. Best lekker en voor herhaling vatbaar.

Bottle. Pours hazy red-amber with two finger head. Aroma of caramel, dried fruits, banana and Belgian yeast. Sweetish with malty, caramel, raisin and spicy notes, hints of alcohol, rich and balanced flavors. Medium body, smooth and silky on palate. Nice beer.

Dark caramel. 2 finger persistent head with nice lacing. Sweet and malty. Nice German notes and sweet with brown sugar. Taste is sweet and full of cloves bitter and great Belgian pale ale qualities.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at Stairway. Pours a nice reddish brown; off white head that lasted for a little while. Nice serving glass; quite unique wide top. Nose is certainly warm and heavy - molasses, brown sugar, caramel. Tastes the same, definitely a hearty beer. Medium body, medium carb, good balance between sweetnesss and bitter. One of the better La Trappe.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl bottle. It pours a pale golden/orange colour with a white head. Aroma a bit yeasty with strong notes of fruit and spice, lemon. Dry hop. Taste is sweet with a good finish of herbal hop dryness, and shows apricot pear and gold raisin, some lemon. Some peppery and bubblegum phenolics. Good.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml Bottle. It pours a thin white head that vanishes and leaves alomst no lacing over a reddish brown dark amber body.. Its aroma is quite frankly gorgeous - dark toasted malts, an alcoholic sweetness and a fruity, almost plum but maybe a little too citrusy, finish. It tastes of dark berries but despite its flat appearance, its taste is hamper by a too obvious carbonation. However, the dark fruits pass by fizz to a cirusy and then sweet alcohol to a zesty sweet finish. I actually quite like this beer. It has more depth in flavour that many of its trappist counterparts. Would by again!
