COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Pours a deep, rich cheddar orange with a nice off-white head. Aroma is orange, peach, sweet yeast, and a touch of raisin/plumb. Flavor is a doughy sweet raisin with a finish of peach and orange peel. Zesty, tingly mouthfeel that deceives the drinker into thinking the beer is thinner bodied than it is really. Finish seems to resonate with apple juice aged in the dank, musty cellar located under the brewery. A nice beer.

330 ml bottle. From Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
Parallel tasting with La Trappe Blond/Dubbel/Isid’Or/Quadrupel.

Hazy reddish brown colour with small dense creamy off-white head. Aroma: Mild berries, sugar, honey (melon?). Flavour: Harsh alcohol, solvent, unpleasant jumpiness. Straight forward for Trappist.

Bottle from a pub in Brugge (forgot to write down the name but think it was Bierboom) consumed 01.10.10. Pours hazy amber with a white head. Nicely soft in the motuh. This is fruity and sweet to start with and a bit of coriander? probably wrong with that last shout but that’s what I got. Bit dry towards the end. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

Bottled. Pours clear ad light amber with an average, creamy, mostly lasting, off-white head. Soft carbonationNose of light malt, caramel with notes of yeast. Medium sweet flavour with again some malt with notes of yeast and spices. Medium bodied. A little bitternes in the end. Not an extraordinary brew,

Cloudy orange pour, off-white head. Sweet fruits, bread, caramel sweetness, light floral hops, and yeast. Pretty light and easy on the palate, but still nice belgium flavor. Good choice if you don’t want a heavy belgium style.

Pours out orange-amber coloured. A medium sized head, colapses way to quick for sure. Good spiced smell. A bit earhy, some sourness that comes up, malts, caramel. NIce smell, only something metallic that disturbes it a bit. Decent taste for sure, the nice smell gets back at the taste. Some nice balance between bitter and sweet, with some more sweetness. Not to much fruits inside, good spiced. A bit of a surprise for me.

Nice one! The beer is very dark brown orange hazy with a yellow hinge. The middle/sized head is very compact and creates a perfect haze after settling. The aroma of raisins and orange zest works very well together. Very full, good palate. Soft and silky. The taste is not as strong as the aroma suggests. The finish is perfect - just enough taste very similar to that of the aroma, always tempting you to get that next sip. Great!
