COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Aroma is woody and yeasty, almost a touch of sour. Appearance is muddy brown. Deep malt flavor with yeasty finish with a touch of funk. Complexity is all in the yeast. Finishes a bit sour. Overall pretty good but not what I was expecting and would not seek out.

Dark copper with a small off white head. Aroma and taste has clear wood hints. Quite ok, but slightly odd beer.

Bottle from a southern season. Pours brown with half an inch of khaki head. A bit of bread on the nose. You do get the alcohol on the tongue. Kind of doughy on the tongue. Finish lingers a bit. Solid but not spectacular.

Eructoblaster (3744) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 5, 2012
Bottle - 750ml. Beautiful hazy caramel body with a thin off-white foamy head. Fresh, complex malty/hoppy aroma with fruity (mainly orange), herbal, and flowery hints. Taste is very well balanced and relatively robust. It carries fruity, yeasty, and caramel notes. Ends with a decent, warming bittersweet finish. Very enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours clear dark amber with a medium, frothy and fizzy off-white head, medium-short retention with fair to good lacing. Aroma is golden raisins, dates, and light fig notes with toast, bread, and caramel malt with faint hops. There is some "cellar" character to the beer, with faint notes of age, oak, and spices (nutmeg). Flavor is caramel, cookie, and toasted malt, fruity and spicy Belgian yeast esters, light oak notes and hop bitterness with a dry, lightly spicy finish. Medium body and carbonation.

750ml bottle, shared with cousins. They seemed to enjoy it. Orange-amber color, active-looking carbonation. Off-white head that fades to minimal. Yeast on the bottom of the bottle. Soft carbonation. Dry, smooth texture. Nice, darker fruity aroma. Some raisin, caramel malt. Light sweet taste, light bitter. Well-done ale.
