Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Aroma is caramel and yellow fruits, hints of bananas foster, grain, hay. Big banana-y yeast character in the flavor. Medium sweet. Mouthfeel seems a wee bit thin, considering. Not bad at all, but it may be my least favorite La Trappe.

750 ml. bottle. (K05F9) Pours a thin short lived beige head, over a clear amber (SRM 7) body.....nose is toffee/caramel, raisin, plum, brown sugar......taste is sweet malts to start with light raisin, then bit of barnyard funk, finishing with a light astringent spice bitterness....mouth feel is light to medium, carbonation medium to high. This is definitely a Dubble. It is a bit over sweet, and the mouth feel is on the light side. BJCP 6/3/13/4/6
