COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Bottle into snifter. This was a nice find at a good price. Nose is plenty of caramel malts with some dark fruits and light yeast. Mmmmm. Pour is a hazy brown color with a fluffy white head and solid lacing that leaves a spot of head in the middle of the glass. Taste wise, there is a heap of malts in this one. Tons of caramel and banana flavors with some dark fruits. A touch of sourdough in the background rounds this one out. A very nice offering.

On tap at Csakajósör, Budapest. Hazy dark amber color with creamy pillowy off-white head. Very beautiful. Delicious malty aroma with some caramel, alcohol and the typical Belgian yeast. A light spicy hop aroma also appears. Medium sweet taste. Medium body with creamy texture and biting carbonation. Sweet malty, typical Belgian trappist beer finish. It’s a nice, light, smooth Belgian one. Much easyer to drink, than the dubbel "big brothers".

@ Csakajósör. An amber coloured beer with an off-white head. The aroma is fruity with notes of candy and spices like clove. The taste is sweet, fruity with a hint of caramel, orange, hoppy bitterness and alcohol. The texture is oily.

Very nice brother. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a small head. The aroma has all the best of a Belgian ale. The flavor is the same, sweet up front and a nice bitter end.

What we have here is a Doppel Weizen Belgium Monk style. Super delicious! Honey, wheat and hops. Wonderful bitterness. The color of a beer does not get any better than this. Elegant and mild in character. Quite a bit of honey flavor.

On tap at Csakajósör.
Poured hazy amber with a nice off white tan head. Fruity, spicy and estery aroma with apple and caramel, wild berries, lactic acid, balanced herbal hops. Medium bodied one, thirst quenching with caramel but dried because of fruitiness and spicies, green apples, fig and berries, hop lurking in the finish with the coriander of course.

Bottle, big stable bubbly head, very hazy and very dark orange colour with some brownish taints, at first some metalic notes which dissapear rather quickly, then aroma of candy with some earthy mushroom notes and some fruitiness in the back, flavour of sour dough bread with white fruits and some spicey hints in the back, suprisingly quite sour, which lightens the beer and does not allow it to become heavy, melding with a light bitterness which blends into a pleasant bitter sour aftertaste. Enjoyable and very interesting.
