COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

750ml bottle, LCBO. Insanely pressurized cork but no mess when popped. Pours a lovely hazy medium to dark brownish orange with a nice foamy brownish head. Dark fruit, yeast, and some alcohol in aroma. Taste - really nice first impression. Lively yet soft mouthfeel, nicely balanced malt, sweetness, and yeast. Incredibly drinkable with only the slightest hint of alcohol burn in a very long after quite a few sips. I was expecting something a bit more complex. But that is my only complaint - a very nice beer.

Clear, dark amber beer with a thin head and a strong, floral aroma. Flavour has a sweet taste of the sort you often get in this sort of beer where if it weren’t balanced so well by the bitter hops it could be sickly. Strong, alchohol-y malt taste. A bit more body wouldn’t go amiss but it’s generally a really nice, well-rounded beer.

Hoppy, earthy, yeasty, grass, straw, hay, golden colour, medium white head, lacing, mid-sweet, lightly bitter, yeasty and floral. Medium body, average carbonation, yeasty and floral finish. Ok

Amberkleurig bier met smalle beige schuimkraag. Karamel, rozijnen en toffee in de neus. Smaak is matig zoet, mild bitter en kruidig. Fruitige afdronk.

Typical "cheesy" aroma of Belgian ale. The taste is soft and the aftertaste require to keep the beer in mouth a while before swallowing to be enjoyed. A small peak of alcohol might also be tasted when keeping the beer in the mouth.

Pours clear pale to medium amber with two fingers of light tan head diminishing rapidly to a thin skim, no lacing. (4/5) Nose is caramel and toffee, raisins and other dark boozy fruits, some cloves and other spices. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, mild bitter and spiciness. (7/10) Medium body tending a bit to the thin, moderate sustained carbonation, mildly boozy finish. (3/5) A decent trappist, with a well-integrated ABV. I found the flavour and body to tend a bit to the thin side, though - felt to me like some more weight would have been appropriate. Certainly worth trying, but I’m not sure it’s worth a special effort.(14/20)

Draught. Amber-reddish colour with small head. Aroma is intensive red fruit, mostly strawberry and raspberry, some caramel and honey. Alcohol well hidden. High sweetness. Very similar to La Trappe Quad. Good one.

Typical Belgian ale aroma. Rather malty. Got an alcohol hit. Followed by a light liquorice aftertaste. Nice mouthfeel.

Une très belle bière ambrée, épicée et fruitée au nez et à la bouche ronde et harmonieuse avec un finale assez douce. Une ambrée tout en rondeur.

Bottle. Excellent Belgian-style ale, soft, caramel, can not too rich, but quite nice.
