Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Merci Isidorus.

Bottles from York Beer & Wine and Mam and Dad’s holiday, Belgium. A cloudy dark red-amber coloured beer with a spicy red fruity flavour, toffee and vanilla notes followed by a warming sweet oak finish.

Copper colour with an amber hue. Smell of sugary malts, brown sugar, toasted caramel, hints of boozy sweetness, and a touch of leafy greens. Taste also of sugary malts alongside hints of toffee, vanilla and oaky undertones. Some mild leafy green hops linger alongside some buttery yeast esthers. Lighter bodied, smooth and a touch of ABV heat on the finish. Really nice beer

Bottle at Winking Lizard. The beer pours a hazy orange-amber color with a medium white head that recedes gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, yeast and malt. Medium body with flavors of raisins, caramel malt, earthy yeast and mild hops. The finish is fruity with a raisin and yeast aftertaste. Pretty good overall
