Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Pale cear gold-orange with puffy white carbonation. Aroma a bit yeasty with strong notes of fruit and spice, lemon. Dry hop. Taste is sweet with a good finish of herbal hop dryness, and shows apricot pear and gold raisin, some lemon. Some peppery and bubblegum phenolics.

Hazy dark brown pour with tan head. Aroma is malty and a hint funky. Flavor is caramel malty, molasses, slight dry-crackery and bitter finish. Hint of funk and hay. Very nice malty but not sticky brew.

Poured into a tulip with a small head. Caramel colour. Woody, sweet caramel aroma. Candy aftertaste. Makes my tongue curl at the sides. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle at home from trade with bartlebier, many thanks Frank :) dark amber, quite hazy, almost cloudy color. small tan head. smells of honey, (dried) fruity, plums, malty sweetness, light alcoholic, liqueurish. full body, rather bubbly, full / light oily / bubbly mouthfeel. tastes yeasty, fruity, plums, some light alcohol, spices, some sweetness. spicy / light alcoholic / light yeasty finish. quite nice, alcohol, sweetness and fruits work together quite good.

A bit hazed amber color with a fine off white head. Some yeast, caramel malty and mild banana in the flavor. Medium + body. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness. Average to soft carbonation. Fruity, dominant toffee, some yeast and some banana in the flavor. Decent Belgian ale, but no favorite.

On tap at Bulldog NE. Belgian snifter glass. Beautiful amber color with a healthy white head. Honestly really appealing to the eye. Smell is floral and a little candy. Almost a tropical fruit quality too. Taste is mostly malty sweet with a rich, brown sugar aftertaste. Maybe a hint of hops as a form of balance. An easy to drink beer that hides its potency well. Really solid Belgian ale. I’ll definitely seek this out again.

Pour a hazy amber topped by about a finger of lightly tanned fizzy head showing good retenttion and lacing properties. The nose is fruity with banana and muskmelon. Some earthy add depth and some sweetness is spotted in the back, perhaps due to the added syrup. The taste is somewhat fruity at first. As it the melon clears, sweet toasted malts appear and expand into what will become the lingering warm finish. The brew is full-bodied, hold decent carbonation and sports a nice sourness. Cheers!

33cl bottle at home from Mitra, Maarssen. Body is fizzy, clear to opalescent, amber, head is medium, tan, fizzy, average lasting, no lacing. Nose is dried fruits, flavor is caramel, herbs, spices, liqueurish, wineish, raisin. Medium to heavy sweet, light bitter, light sour. Finish is long lasting fruity medium sweet, light hoppy bitter, medium alcohol warmth. Medium to full body, sticky texture, lively carbonation. Light dessert beer, not too easy, too much alcohol in the flavor for ABV 7.5, interesting though.
