Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Almost clear amber golden with a small off-white head. Sweet aroma of overripe fruit and Belgian yeast. Quite full-bodied, lot’s of fruit - also sweet overripe fruit - but apricots stand out, some solid esters at play here. Has a slight yeastiness. Quite quaffable. 231109

Bottle, 75cl corked, at RBNAG -09, courtesy of OleR. A dense, two-finger, off-white head sits on top of an unclear, orangey dark golden body. Some cellar in the aroma, but it’s mostly fruits and fruitsyrup. The flavor is pretty much the same, with white sugar sweetness. Lasting finish with cellar, citrus and fruityness. Full-bodied and with a pleasant warmth. Overall, a bit on the sweet side, but a nice beer anyway. 091107
