Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

The taste varies over good and exciting shades like caramel, brown sugar, raisins, plums, dates, honey, green apple, pear and a little dark rye bread. Carbonation is soft and weak, and it releases just the flavor nuances so you get full value for money. Although it is a little on the weak side of what are called strong beer (I mean over 9%), then I think certainly it can be stored dark and cool to develop even more over the years. The hops are present, but in a fresh way where it finally tastes a little bitter of fresh grass and citrus. The finish is medium dry.
