COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Amber beer with a huge, foamy, beige head. Really, really nice aroma: citrus, flowers, yeast. Sweet bread, caramel, dried fruits, syrup, earth. Aroma is sweeter than the taste but this is more on the sweet side rather than dry. Medium carbonation. Nice mouth feel. This is a nicely balanced, complex yet very drinkable beer. I’m really loving this. Unique.

Obviously a very good beer, and rated as such, but not my style. Deep amber pour with nice head. Aroma is sweet and floral. Taste follows nosenl. Extremely sticky.

Smell is a little bit citric and floral. Average carbonation. Complex. Medium body. Hop is present, but the end is softly sweet and dry.

Caramel, citrus, bloemig. Een heel goed gelukt bier met nét genoeg bite. Fruitig fris en toch stevig en niet te zoet. Erg lekker. Zeker een aanrader

Pours a slighty hazy amber color, topped with a very decent yellowish head and nice retention. Lot’s of bubbles. Malty aroma, some spices, some yeast smell as well. Not completely pleasant. Strong taste, starts slightly fruity, followed by very strong bitterness, some soury and metal feel aslo present. Spicy aftertaste. Not my favourite.

Bottle at Specialty Beer Cellar. Murky brown pour with an off white head. Grain aromas. Lots of grain and cereal notes with some banana and caramel lowlights. Good body and mouthfeel.
