I am a big fan of trappistbeers. This one i a welcome suprise for me. Quite dark and different of all the other La trappes.

Jan 6, 2010 Bottled. Hazy golden colour, off-white head. Aroma of fruits and yeast. Flavour of sweet malts, yeast and fruits. Nice one.

Jan 6, 2010 The 7th label from the trappists of Koningshoeven. Special beer. Nice aroma of malts,yeast and fruits. Taste is full, medium sweet with malts, sugar, fruits and some spicies. Nice body, bites of alcohol.

Jan 2, 2010 75cl bottle from Knightly Spirits (Orlando, FL). Pours a hazy orange amber color with massive two finger off-white head that settles slowly and heavily laces the glass. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of ripe fruit, candy sugar, caramel, yeast, bread, grain, booze, light toffee notes. Flavor is sweet and floral with notes of banana, grain, yeast, bread, caramel, ripe fruit, candy sugar, light toffee notes. Medium body with a sweet, lightly boozy finish.

Jan 2, 2010 Bottle: Deep amber, hazy, huge pillowy off-white head, spotty lacing. Musty basement like malts. A little fruity. Musty malts on the tongue, basement funk, pale apple and pear skin. Bubbley, rather spritzy. Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full. Certainly comes across as a Belgian Amber. Lingering pale fruit skin and musty malts. Pale sweetness. Yeah, musty musty musty. Tiz okay, but rather plain and musty. If it isn’t a Dubbel, Tripel, Quad, or even a Dark Belgian, it always seems too simple.

Dec 31, 2009 Yeasty and some alcohol, but a balanced flavor with plenty of caramel and malts. Lively, vigorous and all around an enjoyable beer. La Trappe is much better than often given credit.
