From the archives. Bottle@home. Head: off-white coloured, shrinking. Colour: deep ruby brown. Aroma: hops, dried fruit, some wood, roasted malt. Taste: nice bitter-sweet body. Palate: smooth, mouth warming, bitter-sweet finish. moderate CO2. Overall: very nice.

Old rating from the Kulminator. Appears a clear reddish/amber color with a light tan head that goes to a skim. The smell is caramel, fruit, sherry, oak and vanilla. The taste is toffee, sherry, crisp, complex and rich with a dry and fruity finish. Medium body with crisp carbonation. Very tasty brew.

Dobre i porzadne piwo. W kamionkowej butelce 0,75. Starzone i w browaze i u mnie w piwniczce, nawet w sklepie sporo przelezalo bo byla to ostatnia butelka dostepna. Moc alkoholu lekko wyczuwalna. Owocowo winny smak, lekko wisnoiwo sliwkowy. kolor fioletowo bordowy. Bezowa srednia piana, niestety niezbyt trwala. Ale koncowka wyraznie rozgrzewajaca. Fajne wrazenia. Bardzo zblizone do zwyklego Quadrupel.

Great beer. The tast of the port barrel is not to dominant. It makes the taste abit sweeter but not to much. This now belongs to one of my favorites

Taste is wood, red fruits and sweet malty tones. A bit sweet maybe for my taste.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 37.5cl bottle. Shared with Mathieu87. Tasting of the 12 first La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged variants, together with the original beer (La Trappe Quadrupel). Appearance: no head, unstable, light amber beer. Nose: port, caramel, already somewhat oxidated, some wood, alcohol noticeable. Some anise when smelling the cork. Taste: port, sweet alcohol, again somewhat oxidated. Nice beer, but you shouldn’t keep it lying around any longer.

Draft at In De Wildeman, a real treat! Pours cloudy brown with a tan head. Aroma of toffee, banana, spices, oak, vanilla, fruits following up. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation. I never had the chance to try this fresh after release, but certainly lovely at this age.
