Brown beer, with a small but creamy head. At the nose comes soon an intens hazelnut note, then some very ripe fruit, a lot of sweetness, figs and dates, and caramel too, and then something very similar to a good passito wine, or Tokaji. The liquorous wine notes are more evident in the taste. Almost no alcohol detected, perfectly hidden. No hops, sweet beer but in a perfect balance. Oily texture, and amazing aftertaste, even if maybe I would have prefered it could be a bit longer. Anyway, a wonderful beer! Totally different than the normal Quadrupel.

375 ml bottle shared by DrSilverworm- thanks, Chris! I haven’t made any effort to seek these out, so it’s nice when they show up. Pours a hazy plum-amber-brown color with no head. Maybe a little flattened from age. Notes of caramel and sweet bready malts, dates, brown sugar, raisins, and oak. Very straightforward. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a smooth, sweet mouthfeel. Not bad, but not a standout for the style.

Bottle shared by Dr Silverworm. Poured a hazy brown color with a minimal frothy tan head that mostly diminished with little lacing. Moderate dark fruit and dark sweet aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark sweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid complex brew.

12.7oz bottle, on close out at Party Source. Mostly hazy brown / red color. Virtually no head or lace. The last two of these I tried (batch 8 and 11) were lightly carbonated, but this looks and tastes much flatter. Not completely flat though, just the lightest bit of carbonation. Bigger body, smooth texture, lightly sticky. Good dark fruit, nutty malt aroma, very light spice, hint of light chocolate. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. 10% alcohol is well hidden. Some nice big tannic notes. Good, potent, flavorful quad, although this one is a bit too flat compared to the others... Kind of brings the sweetness out more than necessary.

12.7 oz. bottle shared by DrSilverworm. Pours a hazy deep copper color with a medium sized creamy off white head. The nose has big ripe fruits, raisins, fig, caramel, brown sugar oak and a touch of the alcohol. The flavor is more fruits, raisins, fig, caramel, oak and alcohol. There is some burn to the mouth feel that grabs my attention, but it seems a little thinner than some of the other batches I’ve tried.

37.5 cl bottle to snifter (shared by DrSilverworm). Looks good; a murky brown with thin off-white lacing. Smells of dark fruit and oak. Tastes like it smells, only more robust. Nice and smooth on the palate. Pretty good.

Pours a medium brown with no head and no lacing. Aroma is composed of grapes, brown sugar and a little oxidation. Taste is sweet but also a little acidic, oxidated (cardboard). Tannic and vinous. Alcohol really well hidden. Flavors of brown sugar and fruits (raisins). Body is medium, mouthfeel slightly sticky. Carbonation is low. Good beer!

Pours a dark brown-red colour, slightly hazy with a quickly disappearing beige head. Immediately after opening the cork of this 37,5cl bottle, the aroma of wooden casks, Malbec wine, port and even whiskey fills the nose. Taste has these woody flavours, caramel, vanilla, spices like and a big wine/port-like punch with red and dried fruits like cherries, raisins and plums; all very smooth, subtle and balanced. As it warms, the taste is becoming more sweet and alcoholic with coffee, whiskey and more wine notes are coming through. The wood is adding to a dry but oily mouthfeel (coming from the tannines), with low carbonation and medium body. So much better than the regular quadrupel, amazing drink.

Bottle 37,5. Dark brown, hazy with a min. head. Woody malty, caramel, dato fruity aroma. Light bittersweet taste with a wooden, soft alc. end.

Deep dark burnt orange colour, no head whatsoever, looks flat; vinous, oaky aroma, like a tannic red wine, also stewed prunes, leather - smells great; mellower than mellow, carbonation practically absent, the very softest of beers; gentle sweet stewed fruit flavour, dried cherries, with a slow steady build up of warming alcohol; long finish; good and very interesting for sure, but I won’t be forking out £10+ for the other batches!
