What can I say , this is a great beer , but compared to other trappist beers it is not the top tier by far , still better than most American versions of a Quad and the BA makes it great

37.5cl bottle. Tasting of the 12 first La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged variants, together with the original beer (La Trappe Quadrupel).

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jerohen (1863) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - MAR 16, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 18, 2013 Bottled from biernavigatie.nl, tasted side by side with a regular Quadrupel. Copper/brown colored, immediately dying head. Strong aroma of red wine as soon as you pour the bottle, together with the regular Quadrupel aroma such as malts and raisins. Very fruity flavor, red wine, raisins, malts, wood isn’t that apparent. Mouthfeel is less thick than a conventional Quadrupel. I know it’s blasphemy, but blending #11 with a regular version actually made the beer better, especially in mouthfeel. Not bad, but there certainly have been better batches.
