4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
37,5 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ OLV Koningshoeven, Berkel Enschot. A special and my most expensive beer to date for my 750th rating.
Pours clear dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of wood, red wine and whisky. Taste is even more woody with a hint of smoke which evolves into a longlasting dry aftertaste. A truly great beer with an unique flavour.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
0,375L bottle. Aroma again is very different from the regular version. Aroma is red wine, wood, acidity, alcohol, hints of caramel. Pours hazy reddish dark brown with small light tan head. The head disappears quickly, but small white line remains. Taste is sweet, caramel, red wine, fruits in the background with noticeable alcohol and burnt bitterness. Finish is red wine sourness with nice alcohol burn. Overall: this is the best out of three La Trappe Quadrupels (batch 11 and the regular being the others) I have got my hands on. This one tastes really good.

The taste is wood, earth, coconut, vanilla, toffee, cherry, blackcurrant, toast, light warmth, dried fruit, fruit cake, toast and earth with a dry, warming finish. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Good depth. Smooth, well-balanced and really rather tasty.

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell in London - many thanks to Josh. Pours lightly hazy amber with a delicate, white cream head. Rich beer, lots of bready malts, banana, big sweetness. Surprisingly mellow alcohol, which was nice. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with rich bread, toffee, ripe and bruised bananas. Powerful. Very tasty.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 15, 2013 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a dirty, dark brown with a small, sticky beige head. Nose is huge banana and vanilla notes, white chocolate sweetness and sultanas. Very vanilla escence forward which works nicely with the stewed fruits. Taste again is massive on the banana with white chocolate covered dried fruits, prunes/dates/currants. The sweetness goes well with the heavier fruits. Barely any heat but a touch thin in the mouth feel. Nice stuff

In La Trappe glas pours into a similair look like the original. Instantly smells like port. Tastes quite sweet with a aroma of red wine, almost port like, oak wood, caramel and vanilla. Mild but lively carbonisation. Very intereting beer but quite expensive.
