[ Side by Side tasting of batch # 1-2-3-4 ]. [ Trade by Countbeer ]. Clear medium to dark orange amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, wood, light alcohol, dried fruit notes. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, caramel, malty, wood - oak, alcohol, dried fruit - raisin notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20111123]

Very hazy deep red - brown beer. Decent cream coloured head. Palate is light and soft, semi dry with mild carbonation. Soft dry wood, trace of vanilla. Sweet floral bubblegum. Mild malt cream. Whisper of sweet red berry fruits. Neutral finish. Nicely joined up. These oak aged La Trappes have a unique character.

Bottle at Kulminator, Antwerp.somewhat hazy amber beer with yeast, nice lasting beige head. Oak aroma, vanilla, cream, fruity, yeast notes, grapes, bread, spicy notes, dry, woody, milk notes, roasted notes, some chocolate, nuts, almonds, a bit salty, notes of whisky. Oak flavor, vanilla, cream, whisky, woody, chocolate, roasted, some hay, milky, biscuits, some warming alcohol, nuts, almonds, vinous, grapes, figs, some tropical fruits, leather, notes of Belgian yeast, banana. Wonderful beer, the oak bringing so much more to an already good beer. Oak finish, whisky, toffee notes, almond, some dades and figs, yeasty notes, some leather and a bit salty. Wow!

375 c&c from Wine and Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours a very dark cognac with a decent creamy off-white head. Aromas of moderately dark fruit and raw oak/wood. Full bodied. Very little heat. Smooth malt, oak, grape/raisin and just a little hop. Nicely balanced. Just excellent.

Bottle. Poured a hazy brown color with an average frothy light brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy woody, yeast, dark fruit and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth sticky texture, thin particles and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark sweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration with a small alcohol burn. This is a good complex brew.
