Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Almost clear dark amber body with a creamy lacing on top. Vinous tones with iron, prunes, light vanilla, some flowers and white pepper. The flavour is subtle, yet peppery with a light alcohol touch. Lot of wood, some prunes, light bitter, and some toasted grainy darker bread... Aftertaste is pencil scrape, vinous, prunes and wood... Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, more than medium bodied.

Clear copper, some small particals floating, short lasting off-white foam head. Complex aroma and taste, oak, vanilla, overripe fruits, but in all a very nice beer. LIke it a lot. (Antwerpen 201604)

22/XII/15 - 37.5cl bottle from Geers, Hopduvel or the monastery shop @ Tim’s Amazing La Trappe Oak Aged Series Batch 2 Through 13 Tasting - BB: n/a, blended: 5/XI/2010 (2015-1756)

Note: after hoarding the oldest of these beers for over 5 years, I decided to crack down on them, before they disintegrate.
Clear dark amber beer, small creamy beige to yellow irregular head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, bit oxidized, caramel, honey, spicy touch. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots of banana, sweet, very much alcohol, some vanilla. Aftertaste: sweet, caramel, more banana, bit sugary, oxidized, still banana.

375 ml bottle. Pours a beautiful deep copper color with light to moderate head. Aromas of candied fruit/oranges, baked apples, light oak, and light toasted malts. Flavors of dried fruit (almost like trail mix), light oak, sweet wine and still a bit of doughy malts. Surprisingly light in body. Excellent though likely not going to get better with additional aging.

Bottle, enjoyed January 2015. Pours dark amber with sediments, with a small creamy head. Aroma is nice phenolic Belgian yeast and roasted malts, with caramel, kandi, leather and dark fruits as well as wooden barrels. Full velvety body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet roasted malts, with bread, toffee, kandi and honey, as well as some phenolic notes. Lingering sweet, fruity finish.

Bottled in 2010. Doskonale piwo pachnace calvadosem i armaniakiem. W smaku powidla sliwkowe rum i rodzynki w czekoladzie. Nieco maslanych cukierkow. Alkohol niewyczuwalny, mala piana rubinowo czerwono brazowy kolor. Na koncu metnawy, drobinki fusow jakby byly, przyciemnilo to nieco barwe. Ale wspaniale smakuje rozgrzewa i pozostawia taki jakby rumowy posmak na podniebieniu ktory jest niesamowicie dlugi. Polecam

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2014 375ml bottle served in a La Trapped chalice glass. By the way, Batch Number 4 and my review number 400 :). A: Pours a dark amber clear color forming a small yellow color head. Small retention and some nice lacings left. Beautiful beer S: Smell is delicious. Whiskey and wood. Caramel. Dark sugar. Caramel malts. Alcohol T: Follows the nose. Absolutely delicious smell of oak and whiskey followed by candy sugar, caramel malts and bready yeast. In overall a sweet beer with a mild bitter end. Alcohol is evident but not annoying M: Smooth creamy molasses heavy body. Low carbonation. Delicious bitter aftertaste O: Excellent beautiful beer! I was not expecting that much... Assaggio @ cantinetta. Ambrata chiara senza schiuma. Un po' anonima, o più semplicemente la bottiglia era aperta da un po... Da riprovare ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhold

(La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch #4) Bottle 375 ml corked and caged, poured into a small tulip. ABV 10% Dark amber colour on the body, with bits and pieces floating in it. One finger of tan head, with okay retention, leaving light lacing on the glass. Sweet aroma, with wood, cork, grapes, caramel, vanilla, light alcohol. Taste has dark ripe fruits, sugars, caramel, wood, light vanilla. I don’t get the port aging that much. Slightly boozy but then most of the oak aged batches are. Medium body, soft carbonation, smooth and mellow on the palate. A very good batch too.
