Very hazy deep amber beer with a good size pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and a little soft. Semi dry with fine carbonation. Smooth malt with touches of both sweet and spicy wood. Light floral bubblegum. Nice mellow red berry fruits. Joins up very well for a dry finish. Drinks well below itís abv.

0.375l corked bottle from Barley Wine. This is a light cloudy dark brown one with a small lightly lacing beige top. Really vinous and woody on the aroma. Alcohol, tons of candied sugar, sweet dried dark fruits/berries and red wine stock. Really lively and really good on the nose this! Itís right below average on the carbonation and the mouthfeel is surprisingly soft oily - almost on the border of being thin. Due to the relatively high alcohol level, I feel it had deserved a bit more body. Nice barreled-flavors. Itís really candy and fruit-sweet this. Sticky dates and figs with a warming alcohol rush down the throat. Itís not until the end you also notice a soft slightly acidic sourness. Suits it nicely, cause this is quite a sugary sweet one. Canít wait to try the others in the series. 28.01.2013

Sour sweet aroma. Almost brown but very cloudy. It has a perfect taste of smooth caramel. Delicious smooth beer. I hope I get to try one of the other batches.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 37.5cl bottle. Shared with Mathieu87. Tasting of the 12 first La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged variants, together with the original beer (La Trappe Quadrupel). Appearance: small to no head, light amber beer. Nose: port, wood, maybe even some vanilla. Taste: port, caramel, wood, rather vinous. Nice beer!

Pouring at the Night of the Barrels at Extreme Beer Fest. Pours a hazed amber brown with a thin white head. Sweet and fruity, toast and candied bananas on the nose. Sweet malt, sticky bananas, warm and woody. Even more gooey banana, long toast, warm wood and candied plums. Delicious and warm.

Bottle. Dark amber in color with a small white head. Aroma is malt, oak, caramel and fruits. Taste is basically the same, but also has spices, molasses and alcohol. Full bodied, with a heavy dry aftertaste. Generally not a big fan of quads, but this isnít bad.

Pours a dark amber colour with off white short head. Drank on a blazing hot day when incredibly thirsty. Possibly one of the most complex beer Iíve ever tasted. The port note is there but not in your face. Really enjoyable beer. Shame Iíll probably not get a chance to try it again.
