3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
(La Trappe Quad Oak Aged Batch #5)
Bottle 375ml, corked and caged, poured into a tulip glass at home. ABV 10%
Appearance is almost the same with the other batches I had, dark amber to brown colour on the body, slightly hazy. This one doesn’t have a head at all, some bubbles that are forming during the pour disappear straight away, of course no lacing to be expected.
Aroma has plenty of wine, lots of vanilla, wood, little bit of caramel, ripe red fruits, amazing.
Boozy taste on the first sip, toffee and caramel, then the fruity notes are kicking in. The alcohol is always present during the drinking. Again wood and fantastic vanilla notes.
Thin body with low carbonation.
Very good, if it was thicker and with better carbonation, that would be a masterpiece.

Dark brown coloured beer with lots of carbonation and a medium off white head. Yeasty banana fruity with some spicy hinted sweet malty aroma’s. Full light creamy tingling palate. Finish is roasted sweet bitter malty and creamy with a longer light yeasty fruity and alcoholic hinted taste. Ending is a very subtile burn of alcohol at the back of the throath. Creamy beer with some very subtile flavours.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Arendsnest, Amsterdam.
Deep mahagony colored one with a small pffwhite head. Moderated aroma that opens whn the beer gets warmer. Green apples, tuttifrutti and a lot of fruits like fig and raisins, and some oak. Complex flavor, fruits again(green apples, raisins and tropical fruits), tarty character of thge oaks, bubblegum again because of the high abv. Delicious.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On draft at In de Wildeman, Amsterdam. Dark brown colored, small head. Very powerful aroma, definitely aged, fermented dark fruit, alcohol, caramel malts, raisins, nice! Very complex flavor, predominantly fruity, raisins agains, white wine is becoming more apparent towards the finish. I’m generally not really into white wine except for the oak-aged ones, and that’s exactly what this tastes like. Another very good oak-aged Quadrupel.
