Kulminator - draft (normally for export to USA but Dirk got hold on most of the barrels). Darker amber coloured beer with some light carbonation and a small white head. Subtile herby and vanilla almond hinted aroma. Full light creamy palate. Finish is light herby and full malty. Subtile but complex. Very nice.

Indra (2593) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - APR 2, 2012
375ml bottle, has been cellared since release. Aroma of sweet, dried fruit (apricot, golden raisin) and oak, with touches of white wine, light brown sugar, spicy, doughy, estery yeast, clove, pineapple and light but apparent alcohol. Deep, dark amber-brown in color, hazy and lightly sedimented (I made an effort to leave the dregs in the bottle this time), with a fine, lasting, uneven head. Flavor profile is similarly full of oak, lightly sugary sweetness and tropical fruit with winey touches here and there, peppery alcohol and a certain candyish, praline tone in the background. Finish shows some Calvados character(?). Hefty, smooth and lightly warming on the palate, body is full enough. I certainly decided to splurge a bit on this stuff and I enjoyed it.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark copper color with a off-white head. Aroma of oak, caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruit. Flavor was sweet and smooth with dried dark fruit, oak, vanilla, raisins, caramel and brown sugar. Awesome brew.

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2013 375 ml. corked and caged bottle. Pours a thin ivory head, with hints of lacing, over a hazy, particle laden, dark amber brown (SRM 18) body.....nose is raisin, plum, brown sugar....taste is plum, raisin, vinous tones, hints of honey, vanilla, moderate sweetness throughout, finishing with light clove, allspice tones, with a bit of spice bitterness......mouth feel light, slightly sticky, alcohol warmth present, carbonation low. This is a very rich, complex, sweet beer. The white wine barrels added a light wood, but heavy vinous sweetness to the final result. White wine barrels seem to add a dessert quality to a beer. While it meets the style quite well, the sweet qualia are quite dominant, and the particle laden body detracts from the overall experience. BJCP 8/2/15/4/7

superspak (2419) - Michigan, USA - MAY 15, 2013
375 ml bottle into chalice; Batch 6, April 2011 bottling. Pours hazy and cloudy dark reddish brown color with a small dense cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big raisin, prune, caramel, toffee, toast, oak, clove, molasses, light red wine, candi sugar, brown bread, vanilla, light chocolate, light peat, and yeast earthiness. Incredible aromas with big complexity and balance of malt and fruity esters with moderate oak barrel presence. Taste of big raisin, prune, toffee, toast, caramel, molasses, clove, brown bread, oak, light wine, candi sugar, light peat, light chocolate, light vanilla, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruits, toffee, toast, caramel, molasses, brown bread, oak, clove, light chocolate, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity and balance of big malt flavors with moderate fruity/spicy esters; with moderate oak presence and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an incredible oak aged Quad! Tons of complexity and well balanced flavors; and quite smooth to sip on. Insanely enjoyable stuff; definitely worth enjoying again in the future, even for the high price of the bottle.

Hazy amber with a fine creamy off white head. Aroma of red grapes, berries, apples and coriander, some caramel and marcipan, light woods, light vinous tartness. Smooth mouthfeel, fine fruits like berries, raisins, apple, caramel and some grapes. Fine, long aftertaste with good green apples and fruits

Taste this bottle, 37,5 cl with Vic and William, 21.07.2011 @ proeflokaal La Trappe. Dark brown color with a little beige head. Great aroma grapes, raisins, dry dark fruits, malts and oak. Medium to full body. Taste like wine, is also great: dark dry fruits, malts with sweet touch and tannins little sourness. Dry aftertaste. Very Good !
