COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
BATCH 7 is blended in June 2011 and is the first batch (of two) that has matured in old whiskey barrels. These barrels come from different whiskey distilleries such as Bowmore, Tamdhu, Strathspey and Laphroaig (Johnstons). The aroma’s of the whiskeys have an obvious impact on the final flavor. This flavor is remarkable and clearly different from those of previous batches. Peat and burnt are more present, while wood and wood tannins are less obvious to spot. But the warming effect of the full, robust flavor the whiskey barrels passed on to our already beautiful Quadrupel, makes this batch maybe even the most tasty brewed to date.

brown color, the brown foam disappears quitte quickly so there’s not really a head. The bitterness that the original La Trappe Quadrupel had, has become a more light bitterness, but this beer still has a full body. Also the sweetness is quitte balanced here. However there is a very very big whiskey taste and smell, that you have to like... (i do... very much...)

Bottled at oh6gdx’s birthday bash at chriso’s. Cloudy mid brown, no head. Heavy oaky islay whisky aroma. Sweet with ful body and rounded mouthfeel. Marzipan gets outpowered by massive peaty whisky. Sugary sweet. Warming finish. Out of balance.

Bottle at Pat’s birthday tasting at chriso’s. Pours cloudy amber with a creamy, white head. Booze and some hard alcohol on the nose, definitely some oak. Laphroaig or something. Big sweet flavor, smokey oak, some toffee, big sugar. Strong. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish, plenty of oak, some toasty sugars. You need to like wood to like this one. Overall a pretty complex beer and fun to get into.
