I still can’t believe it took over 2 years of being exposed to the world of craft beer for me to try this. I guess it never caught my eye, which I stoked on since I think its a great brew. 750ml bottle listed as Konings Shoeven Quadrupel. Pours a beautiful reddish-brown with clear maroon edges. The pour develops a fat-ass, rocky head that caps off the color nicely. Aroma is typical Belgian Quad, with lots of raisin, plum, candy sugar and sweet dark malts. Flavor leans sweet with prominent notes of cherry, caramel toffee, a bit of apple and a nice slap of banana on the finish. Belgian yeast flavors last on the finish. Very smooth and full-bodied palate. Yummy! BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Mar 19, 2009 A very nice and strong Trappist quad. Nice fruity balance. Pours golden with nice amount of yeast. Very tasty. pinkzambia (986), Boise, Idaho, USA Mar 17, 2009 Bottle: Cloudy brown, almost clear but not quite. Sweet, Werther’s Original-esque aroma along with grapes. Sweet flavors abound. Not bad. davegore (200), liverpool, Merseyside, England Mar 17, 2009 You know when you read the previous ratings and then you kind of feel obliged to rate the beer higher, well this was one of those times but I will have to resist.
Pours a golden orange not much of a head and not very lively, aroma to me is mostly grainy and this carries over into the mouthfeel and taste, some fruitiness. jake65 (1657), Williston, North Dakota, USA Mar 15, 2009 Bottle: Copper/caramel pour with a thin beige head. Smells of dark fruits and caramel. A little sweet and malty overall. Tastes malty and dry with some florals. A bit vinous, but still has a little dry, floral bitterness.
