(on tap at Ølbaren, both 2003 edit. and 2005 edit. Great idea guys, thanx)2005 edit: Clear, rubyred color. Some caramel and a LOT of banana. Somewhat soft mouth with plums and Pot Marigold. Sticky, canesugarish finish. Nothing compared to the 2003 edit: Hazy ruby color. Low carbonation and a mild taste of prunes, moscovado, elderflower og lime. A slow flowerish finish with great balnce of alcohol. Smooth longdrink

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
As good of a beer as one is ever going to find. Deep, multi-layered fruit and caramel flavors, very mild hoppiness, light carbonation, translucent amber color. I love this beer.

very light tan creamy head, does not last long. cloudy dark orange ruby color with lots of yeast chunks. aroma is raisin, plum, caramel malt, light alcohol. flavor starts dark fruity sweet, like plumped raisins in rum. bready malty middle then slight alcohol and faint banana. very light hop bitterness, but balanced with a citrusy nip - like orange and grapefruit. juicy mouthfeel!

had this in a bottle in amsterdam at amendnest. huge nose on this thing....most noteable was sweet molasses, maple, bourbon, dark fruit and maybe some alcohol. nice fig and roasted choc malts push a warm alcohol feel. pretty big beer and definately the nicest of the la trappe products.

Pours a hazy amber color with dark orange highlights and a thin offwhite head. Aroma of fruits (including raisins and plums) and alcohol, there’s some sweetness that can be felt too. The flavor is very similar: fruits (raisins and plums), alcohol and a sweet finish. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. It’s a good beer, definitely the best of La Trappe.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2005 750ml bottle. 51°. Served in my Duvel glass. Not sure of the date, bottle says K28K1. Pours orangy brown with a moderately small off white head. As the head receeds, it leaves foam dots and when swirled, the beer fully coats the glass. Aromas are bananas and spice. The taste is the same, bananas and (blow, just kidding) spice that transitions to a slight alcohol taste then to a mildly hoppy finish. There seems to be a slight feeling of alcohol in the finish, but it doesn’t take away from the experience. The finish is malty and yummy. Mouthfeel is full and has a substantial weight. Really nice.

Not the best of trappist ales, but readily available. A bit more alcohol to the taste than desired but not overpowering. Smooth finish. Clean.

Purchased at New Beer Distributor in Chinatown, Manhattan, NYC. Pours deep brown, foamy white head. This is a smooth, somewhat mild quad; not particularly alcoholic in flavor. Caramel notes. Delicious.

Pours deep amber, with slight but beautiful bubbling and a thick tan head that laces beautifully. Nose is sharp apple and citrus fruits with a fun caramel overtone. The flavor is complicated yeasts and creamy caramel, with more bitter grapefruit, as well as pear, apple, and dates. There is a slight smokiness to the finish. Alcohol is powerful and pervasive throughout, but not in an unpleasant way. This is good.
