This beer is a clear dark ruby amber color with a medium thin and foamy light beige head that dissipates quickly. Stringy lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, dark fruit and anise. Medium body with flavors of malt and caramel primarily, and plum, coriander and light alcohol underneath. The finish is spiced and fruity. Pretty good all around. pootzboy (1042), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada

Pours a lightly hazed copper red ale in the chalice with a small puffy off white cap that laces well.
Aromas of pungent maltiness, big dried fruit esters and a lashing of grass and fusel alcohol.
Complex flavour is rich and pungent with figs nuts licorice, treacle, oranges, spices and some earthy woody tastes.
The character in the young ale although bright and delicious, is a tad sharp and a year or so in the cellar will round this off. JesseM (664), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 7, 2008 750mL corked/caged bottle from the LCBO. Pours a beautiful dark copper amber colour, almost ruby when held up to light, with a nice medium tan head that lasts. The aroma is just outstanding, fresh yeast cake, fruity to the max and not just dark fruits, but pears and apples, alcohol, pretty much everything you can love in a Quad. The flavour is equally outstanding, waves and waves of flavour, this baby is still a little rough and fresh. Red delicious apples, pears, bubble gum, sticky sweet malts with a seriously firm back body, and a small hint of dry herbal hops. Floral, like actual flowers are in here, yet it works some how. The alcohol is so well hidden, yet at the same time you know how strong this baby is. My description does this stuff no justice. Simply fantastic, I will certainly by more of this. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Lovely deep copper pour with quickly diminishing white head. Fruity start with dried fruit and yeast leads to herbs and butterscotch and butter to finish. Light tasting but hides its strength brilliantly. SaintMatty (1213), Tallinn, Estonia
