Huge belgian yeast aroma with a bit of fruity sweetness and some banana notes. Vinous taste, almost doughy with a raisin backdrop. Somewhat dry mouth feel, perfectly carbonated. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2007 Bottle, lots of sweet dark fruits, Prune, raisin and cranberry. A bit of bread and citrus. Sweet, flavor, alcohol is very noticible, a bit of sourness, warming, yeast is not very dominate as in some quads. Plenty of rich dark fruit but not as much rich dark roast as others. Not a bad brew similar to drinking prune juice with some vodka in it. Quite a bit better than the dubble. nuplastikk (1179), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 22, 2007 Very detectable high alcohol presence. First tastes are cognac-like, sweet and strong. Mellows out a little after the first few sips. Pruny, pungent fruit tastes. A nice slow sipper, i would’ve assumed the alcohol percentage a tad higher than 10% by the taste. AR (423), Georgia, USA

Flavour has a lot of candy sweetness and fruit that becomes a little bitter on the aftertaste. Pastor (509), Maine, USA

Poured into my Ommegang chalice produced a fingers worth of white lace that goes to a lace on top of a light tea colored body with some suspended partials of yeast
Aromas of wine comes from the bottle a nice fruity smell as well but you can smell the alcohol as well
The taste is the same as the aroma sweet fruit along with a light spice bitter
Not as full as I like my quads more of a medium mouthfeel with a alcohol warmth in the end
Its an alright Quadrupel not one of the best but drinkable

Had this at The Wildeman, Amsterdam.
Pours ruby-red, impressively clear. Sublime, creamy, off-white head. Totally impressive duration. Aroma has raisins, plums, yeast, lightly vinious, caramel, liqourice. Soft carbonation, impressive creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has a little cellar-notes, raisins, caramel, sweetness, winegums, pear, raspberries, toffee, vinious, plums and marzipan. World class!

Bottle @ Café Jos, Nijmegen. Pours a dark redish amber with a thin fizzy head the settles as a few bubbles along the edges of the glass. Aroma is not as powerful as expected, but sweet and with a good dose of dried fruits. Nice full and slightly oily mouthfeel. Flavour is equally sweet, prunes, raisins, fruit, berries and very complex.

Leaning more towards the English Barley Wine camp than the monasteries of Belgium. Clear chestnut capped with an immoveable head of fine froth. Enticing candyish snout dipped in treacle and christmassy rich dark fruits. Really smells the business. Banana cake, golden syrup, figs and brandyish richness balanced by a warming medicinal hint of bitterness to finish. And finish you it will if you’re not careful. Big, deceptive Dutch monk wielding a velvet-cushioned sledgehammer. Watch out.
