kempicus (350), Wellington, New Zealand Sep 14, 2007 pours an medium amber colour with acreamy off white head, lovely warming syrupy beer remeniscient of dark plums. marcbé (86), Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada Sep 14, 2007 Pours a dark but clear copper color, with a thin white head. Soft nose of plum, raisin and banana, some alcohol is percertive in the end. Fizzy but creamy in texture, it taste like a banana and chocolate cake. Avery soft bitterness came in the finish. I can’t taste any alcohol. Warming!!! brianbuntz (49), Santa Monica, California, USA Sep 11, 2007 Poured from a 1-pint-9.4-fl.oz. bottle. Nice hazelnut color and fruit aroma and flavors: apple, golden raisin, apricot, etc. matched with spice. There is a yeasty, bread dough quality with a slight hoppy edge. Big malts and an alcohol flavor. Frankly, there are trappist beers that hide alcohol better, but this is still better than most. nihar (68), Ohio, USA Sep 11, 2007 Very fruity aroma.. pours with a thick white head that lingers on... very thick texture with plenty of alcohol... doesn’t hide alcohol either... taste is mildly fruity with a bitter finish... Strykzone (1458), Wood River, Illinois, USA Sep 10, 2007 Purchased as Konings Hoeven Quadrupel. What a beer! Amazing amount of malt and fruit in both flavor and aroma. Plenty of alcohol as well. It feels thick and almost syrupy in the mouth. The large amounts of fruit and alcohol give a brandy feel. This would be a great beer with on a cold winter night with a fire in the fireplace. This beer is bold, unpretentious, and quite delicious. dankman38 (228), Somewhere in, Ohio, USA Sep 3, 2007 This is my least favorite of the Trappist Quads. (so far). It isn’t a bad beer at all but is kind of lacluster when compared to other beers like it. RiverHorse (454), New Jersey, USA Sep 3, 2007 Pours a nutty light brown color into the trappist glass. The color was cloudy with a small light tan head and a clingy inch of lacing. The scent was of alcohol, raisins, malt and some yeast. The taste was a big hit of raisins and malt up front with some cloying sweetness in the back. A sticky, nutty mouthfeel and sweetness gave way to a doughy, bread like aftertaste. A fullfilling quad. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Updated: Nov 7, 2009
