vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Aug 14, 2007 This bottle was around 5-6 years old and held up in fine fashion. Pours crimson / bronze with a moderately sized tan head. the aroma is lush and bready with lots of caramel, yeast and maple syrup - very rich and smooth. Medium / full body that is incredibly smooth with surprisingly lively carbonation for the age. The flavor starts with lots of what’s on the aroma, but a bit sharper. The finish smooths out the flavor and brings some spice into the picture. There is a lingering flavor in the mouth of doughy caramel with a touch of spiciness. Thumbs up to this quality quad that ages with the best of them. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Aug 14, 2007 Big BIG thanks to bu11zeye for sending this one my way. Poured into my DE KONINCK glass. Pours a dark amber with a big off white head. Laciing is thick and sticky. Aroma is candied malts, fermented fruits (bananna) and spices. Just took my first sip. WOW!! This is a very nice Quad. Flavor is big spices, malts, rich fruits. Pretty boozy and warms the belly really nice. I wish I would have saved this one until winter. gottalottaibu (242), charlotte, North Carolina, USA Aug 8, 2007 bottle. dark brown with nice head. big candy sugar aroma with a nice undertone of alcohol. sweet upfront that smooths out and finishes with some warming alcohol. medium mouthfeel with a very pleasent finish. 19641948 (492), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Aug 7, 2007 Updated: Aug 21, 2007Originally reviewed back on 3/19/05. Received 3.85 score. Added to my RB list to check "The Netherlands" as a beer country consumed. Ruddy amber hue. Meaty aroma with a lot going on. Thinner palate than I had hoped for. A basic quad, but I’ll reach for others in the style. johnnygm (38), Santiago, Chile Aug 5, 2007 Strong brownish head, with some fine foam with hop touches. Sweet and creamy aroma. Caramel, toasted and soft bitter touches in palate. At the end becomes more spicy and hoppy, but not too much. Sweet aftertaste. Magnificent! rgrep (150), Wellington, New Zealand Aug 5, 2007 500mL Stoneware Bottle. Extremely hard to extract cork. Poured a dark chestnut with a blossoming off-white head with a tight bead. Sweet and alcoholic body. Very drinkable with a nice finish and no astringency. Egon (392), Gothenburg, Sweden Jul 30, 2007 Part of a bottle. Chestnut colored with thin head. Rubbery notes and fruity. Caramel and surprisingly low alcohol taste. Earthly. Medium body. Veer (355), Landskrona, Sweden Jul 29, 2007 Aroma: estery, banana, coconut... very strange, almost vinegary aroma, musty, sour wood, some manure.
Appearance: really amber, slightly greyish head. Looks STRONG.
Flavour: weird, musty, bitter, slightly sweet, barn notes (earth, hay), wheatlike, ’juicy’
Palate: good, strange, lathery, rustic.
I like it. Very rustic
