Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Jun 7, 2007 11.2 oz bottle-An orangish amber body with a nice white head. Aroma of sweetness and yeast. Taste of malt, belgian yeast, and alcohol. Nice tasting beer. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Jun 2, 2007 Updated: Jun 4, 2007750 ml oz bottle from a trade (big thanks to whoever sent this!). Says Konings Hoeven, NOT La Trappe on the label. I have no idea of the age...Pours a dark copper with a nice head that quickly evaporates to nothingness.Nose is full of fruity easters and belgium yeast. This starts and ends a bit sweet with some candy, caramel, peach, subtle bananna, berry and a tiny bit of tartness in the finish. A bit of heat as well. Body is medium, carbonation is low/medium. An almost average Belgium.. papajohn (1054), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA May 31, 2007 Updated: Jun 1, 2007Koningshoeven Quadrupel on tap@O’Brien’s pub: Deep reddish brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma is malty and fruity with a faint hint of banana. Flavor starts rich with dark fruit, port and the slightest hint of bubblegum finishing lightly dry and lightly bitter. Full bodied and velvety smooth with gentle carbonation. Much under-rated IMHO. leeburg (146), Juneau, Alaska, USA May 30, 2007 Updated: Mar 11, 2009750ml, big soft retentive head, orange/amber in color... fruits at first and a little spice followed immediately by the alcohol. Nice body and quite drinkable. Reasonably priced right now. Yum. ante (2904), Stockholm, Sweden May 30, 2007 Bottled. Hazy reddish amber with a rich fluddy tan-coloured foam. Sweet and yeasty aroma of banana, chocolate, licorice, spices, pears and alcohol. Full, warming and yeasty flavour of almobnds, cocoa, banana, anice and spicy, warming alcohol. Full-bodiede with a gentle carbonation. Sweet finidh of alcohol, banana, spices and licorice. Not as refined as it’s belgian brothers. acearl (207), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA May 27, 2007 Updated: Sep 17, 2007From a 12oz bottle. Garnet or dark amber hue with creamy tan head, good lacing, carmel malty smell, syrupy texture, dark, spicey, big flavor, full body, hint of nutmeg, lightly alcoholic, average duration, similar to a Chimay Blue and on par with any good Quad, a good nightcap beer. Can understand these monk agenda...Mmm. Sombeast (151), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 27, 2007 From notes. Poured in a snifter glass this generated a massive 3+ finger rocky head. Unclear reddish brown color. Aroma: Faint. ‘Belgian’ yeast character, moderate malt, some alcohol, a little nuttiness. Flavor: Malt, a sharp edge and the same nuttiness from the aroma. Mouthfeel: Extremely full-bodied, almost viscous on the tongue. wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA May 27, 2007 Tried from tap at Stone Brewery. Caramel orange color. Perfect creamy head characteristic of Stone’s carbonation setup. Sweet, mellow. Great beer. A tiny hint of banana in the nose. Pretty drinkable. Great palate. I’ll have another.
