Quadrupel is La Trappe’s heaviest ale with a stunning amber colour. Its warm and intense flavour is rich and finely balanced. Malty sweet, slightly burnt, and pleasantly bitter with a sweet aftertaste. Quadrupel continues to ferment after bottling and offers aromas of banana, almond, vanilla and others.

Nose of banana syrup, burnt sugar and caramel. Slightly bitter, a little bubbly and a lingering taste on alcohol at the end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured into a Trappist glass and maybe it was my pouring skills but I was somewhat disappointed at the lack of head. However, it was a nice hazy bronze/copper color with some long lasting lacing throughout. The aroma was pretty amazing. Malty, caramel and some fruits. The taste was not complex but still nice. I couldn’t really put my finger on the flavor but it seemed like a mix of caramel and a mild lingering alcohol taste yet sweet and without a bitter aftertaste. I found it to be smooth and easy to drink. It’s a great beer overall.

Un gout corsé prononcé, une amerture très agréable, une touche de caramel et un alcool qui vien sublimer le tout. Un final plutôt amère .

Bottle at home. Beautiful hazy Amber colour, nicely lacing beige creamy head that lasts. Nose and taste with caramel, toffee, dried fruits like figs and dades and almond: barley-wine like complexity in the sweetness. Nicely spicy and herbal Belgian yeast character alongside really smooth (!) malts. Finish is sweet but short. No big alcoholic punch despite the high abv. Carbonation is too high for my liking (typical La Trappe), good body, soft mouthfeel.

Pours cloudy deep brownish amber with tall off-white head. Aroma of hazel nuts, muscovado, dried fruit, spices, slightly burnt notes. Taste is rich sweet, nutty and spicy, with just a hint of bitterness in the finish. Rich, creamy body with soft carbonation.

Tasting blind from 33 cl bottle. A flowery aroma, with alcohol and almonds. The clear red beer has a small brown head. The sweet taste gives a warm feeling inside. Medium carbonated

Aroma: High phenolics, spicy, pepper. High esters, banana, Light bubblegum, Appearance: Clear, amber body. Large, white head, lacing, good retention. Flavour: High fruitiness, banana, plums, , High maltiness, bready. Light warming. Dry finish with lingering fruitiness, plums. Light bitterness, just to balance the rich maltiness. Mouthfeel: Medium body. Medium-high carbonation. Silky, creamy Overall: Wow! Increases complexity as it warms up. A really wonderful beer. 330 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 16E. From a 750 ml bottle at Il Maltese. Light ruby red/copper, slightly hazy, with a nice, creamy and persistent yellow-ish head. Very intense and powerful nose, lots of fruit esters, peach in syrup, dark fruits, chestnut honey, mature fruits (esp. pears and cherries), a light alchool presence as well. Quite complex overall. Pleasent warming sensation upfront, quite velvety and smooth, perfectly balanced between bitter and sweet notes. Toffe and dry fruits (nuts, almonds) in the aftertaste. Dangerously drinkable considering the ABV. Soft to average carbonation, medium to full body, slightly oily texture. Great.
