Quadrupel is La Trappe’s heaviest ale with a stunning amber colour. Its warm and intense flavour is rich and finely balanced. Malty sweet, slightly burnt, and pleasantly bitter with a sweet aftertaste. Quadrupel continues to ferment after bottling and offers aromas of banana, almond, vanilla and others.

Nose of banana syrup, burnt sugar and caramel. Slightly bitter, a little bubbly and a lingering taste on alcohol at the end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Kolor miedziany, klarowne. Piana obfita, szybko opada, ale pozostawia gruba obraczke i niezle oblepia szklo. W aromacie na pierwszym planie wanilia i przyprawy, dalej syrop kandyzowany, karmel, czekolada, estry owocowe. W odczuciu polwytrawne, jest lekka owocowo-karmelowa slodycz, dosc wysoko wysycone. W smaku mamy powtorke z aromatu, lekko karmelowe, sporo owocowych estrow i syropu kandyzowanego, niestety takze lekko metaliczne, za to alkohol dobrze ukryty, zwodniczo lekkie i pijalne. Goryczka niska, ziolowa.

Draught at Yard House (Dedham, Mass). Goblet

I try not to rate beer at the bar/pub, so this is from memory from about an hour ago. My memory is crap, but I remember this being the best Belgian beer from the Yard House’s Belgian 6 sampler. I ordered a goblet of this after the sampler plate. The Quad was amazing. Aroma was somewhat sweet. Appearance was clear, amber, with white/tan head. Taste had an exceptional balance between sweet malts/sugar and bitter hops. Really enjoyed the hops on this, the bitterness was perfectly balanced with the malts/sugar. Nice and dry finish. Overall, wow, this was really, really good. Probably the best Quad that I’ve had in a while. No fruitiness like Ommegang Three Philosophers, just a straight up Quad.

The first impression when you pour it into the glass is a sweet dark fruit and chocolate smell, very nice. The taste is really good, soft and little fruity, even though it is maybe quite carbonated. In fact, it tastes better a few minutes after pouring it into the glass. Ann¡yway it is a very good beer which deserves to be tasted.

Donkeramberkleurig bier met mooie schuimkraag. Aroma’s van banaan, amandel, vanille. Smaak is moutig zoet, licht gebrand. Bitterige afdronk met een zoete nasmaak.

Aroma is dark fruits, belgian sugar candy, biscuit, vanilla, raisins and rich malts. Taste is a great collection of fruits like plum, raisin, dark cherry and apple. Very nice and chewy mouthfeel. Transitions into a very pale but well placed bitterness. Appearance is a medium dark cloudy amber with a medium pearl head that retains well.

Bottle. Poured in a Leffe glass. Aroma is toffee malts, yeasty. Taste is dark dried fruits, prunes, raisins, candy sugars, some spices and some Belgian yeast/funk. Body is full, texture creamy, medium carbonation. Finish is sour and yeasty, with some burning alcohol.

Malty, yeasty, boozy, dried fruits. Copper colour, off-white head, lacing. Alcohol, malty, big sweetness, bit one-dimensional. Big body, soft carbonation, anonymous finish. Ok.

Pours deep mahogany with a small frothy head. Aroma is a classical belgian bouquet with a reasonable level of intensity: light caramel, peach, raisins, banana and cloves, dried fruits and a hint of noble alcohol. Taste is based on the same notes as the aroma, the beer is rather smooth and warming, alcohol is present but in a good way. Balance is the key here, makes the beer extremely drinkable.
