Jun 7, 2003 Updated: Jun 8, 2003Aroma is sweet, slight molasses, a bit of cherries and a wee bit of alcohol - altogether - pleasing. Bourbon colored appearance with floating sediment. Flavor is bready with fruity undertones. Also detect some raisins. Improves as it warms - would make a good bellywarmer in the winter. Alcohol is hidden well - although after a 1 pt 9.4 fl oz - you know it was there!

Nov 17, 2002 2000/2001 bottling: pours hazy deep amber with beautiful carbonation and a thick off white head. complex aroma of yeast, spice, fruit and candy. more fruit and spice with hints of caramel and chocolate in the flavour. alcohol shows though more in the finish. very warming. very tasty.

Mar 5, 2005 33 cl bottle. Amber color with a rich tan head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aromas of green apples, caramel and dried fruits. Taste is really complex. Taste starts of on the sweet side with malts and chocolate before the high alcohol gives way to figs, rum, banana and clove. Medium bodied and really good.

Jul 10, 2005 Lable as Koningshoeven. 75cl bottle. Some loose floaters, a few chunky lazy bubbles jumping...amber/brown...no real head, but some clinging lace. Aroma slight moist cork.musty, definite plum, raisin, grape, leather, slight alcohol behind it, but pleasing overall. Full, sweet body w/o obvious thickness...lingering...Flavor is set off by the sweet finish, and highlighted by the dark fruits & alcohol...madeira to an extent...complex sweetness a bit of clove and vanilla begins to come out in the nose now...and the sweetness is just right...not too much or too thick. Excellant beer. Late night sipper, elegant.

May 2, 2005 Found this baby at Kenwood liqours in Cicero.It is La Trappe,an old 3 pack.Pours a copper dark amber with a huge creamy tan head.Might be a little sour but still get a lot of fruits,and some aromatic spices.Still very good not sour like I thought.Plenty of fruits here.Ripe bananas and dates.Very nice

Pours a brownish red color with a little whiteish tan head that recedes quickly. Aroma is sweet malt and some hints of dark fruits and funk. Flavors are sweet maltiness, hints of vanilla and nectar. Very nice beer.

Aug 3, 2005 (Bottle 30 cl) Dark amber colour which hazes if you pour the abundant sediment. Fairly small head, but it sticks to the glass. Lovely aroma of figs. Sweetish and extremely potent with lovely, fruity ale-esters. Notes of chocolate, nuts, figs, dates, caramel - all the goodies. Lovely beer. 311002

Mar 19, 2005 Purchased at New Beer Distributor in Chinatown, Manhattan, NYC. Pours deep brown, foamy white head. This is a smooth, somewhat mild quad; not particularly alcoholic in flavor. Caramel notes. Delicious.
