Carlus12 (361), London, Greater London, England Oct 3, 2007 Bottle. Pours creamy / thick head. Aroma is raisin / plums / caramel. Taste is rather sweet / fruit / raisin / caramel. Finish is slightly dry / doughy. Nice example of a quad.
scottw86 (97), New York, USA Aug 29, 2008 Poured a deep reddish brown with a full off-white head. Aroma was very rich, some fruity notes, as well as some bannana. Taste was very smooth, hints of apples and grapes. Finish was a bit sour. Very enjoyable. ahnakel (10), , Georgia, USA Aug 29, 2008 This beer was amazing, I think I have a new favorite. This was recommended to me by a friend. I will thank him. daknole (683), Plantation, Florida, USA Aug 24, 2008 bottle, and a helluva quad IMO. Reddish/brown pour with a light tan head. Aroma is all sugar, malt, syrup and dark fruit. Flavor is sweet and malty with a certain alcohol burn. Good stuff if taken in slowly. BrotherGrendel (135), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Aug 23, 2008 On tap at O’Brien’s.
Appearance is a clear dark red hue, dense layer of off-white foam, moderate lacing.
Smell is sugar and sweet fruits mostly, pear syrup dominates, cotton candy is in the mix too.
Taste is pears with a touch of raisins, some sweet malts and yeast in the middle, finishes with slight alcohol warming.
Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, watery texture, prickly carbonation.
Drinkability is fair, surprisingly pear-dominated quad, the alcohol is well-masked, quite light and fruity for the style. yalnikim (647), Wellington, New Zealand Aug 20, 2008 Tasted 20/08/2008. Prune, toffee apple and cola... with a big dose of alcohol perfume and a some herby medicinal notes. Drinkable but alcohol dominates a bit much and I’m left feeling that is is little more than an upmarket bus-stop beer.
