Quadrupel is La Trappe’s heaviest ale with a stunning amber colour. Its warm and intense flavour is rich and finely balanced. Malty sweet, slightly burnt, and pleasantly bitter with a sweet aftertaste. Quadrupel continues to ferment after bottling and offers aromas of banana, almond, vanilla and others.

La Trappe Quadrupel in a Croek. Pretty Bloody good too. Hints of plum, raisin and rotten cherry beneath a soft sweetishness ballanced by about 4 volumes of CO2. Alcohol flavour bacame evident after the hour, and many complexities showed up with it. Sweet Malt, Apricots and Pears became the call for the afternoon and hints of phenolic spicyness too.

BBE date was may 2014. Pours lovely dark amber colored with a longlasting fine-pored, off-white head. Aroma has lots of fruits, apple, caramel, candy sugar. Taste of sweet fruit, vanilla, lots of candy sugar. Finish is alcoholic warming with sweet sugary notes, green apple, some slight vanilla and some spicy notes.

Bottle. Light amber colored with copper hue with a creamy tan head. Fruity nose with notes of plum and grapes and a malty aroma. There is already a strong peppery alcoholic presence here. Sweet flavor and with a light bitter dry finish. Complex in the mouth with fruity notes of banana and plum, yeast and a hint of spices with clove, pepper and some vanilla. Thick body with low carbonation causes a nice creamy mouthfeel within a pleasent alcoholic warmth. Light sweet fruity aftertaste.

Pours a thick white to beige head with light hops aromas. Clear Amber body. Quite Thick and warm and very long in mouth with balanced bitterness and carbonation. A good match with white creamed poultry or veal. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2015 Pours hazy muddy dark amber with surprisingly little topping. Mild esters and caramel on the nose. Flavor is rich with ripe fruit, sweet malt, and distinct banana. Best I’ve had since Rochefort 10. Love this style, and this nails it.

Det er en rigtig dejlig øl, som vi fik til risengrød, og det passede den meget fint til!

33 cl bottle. Hazy, dark amber, thin off-white to tan head. Aroma is complex, It’s sweet, bubble-gum, plum, syrup and alcohol. Mouthfeel is low carbonation, oily, a bit sour and dry. Flavour is, again, really complex with a lot of different notes to it. In some way, it’s a little "over the top" for an average beer rater like myself. This is one for the experts and trappist afficianados. Would I buy it again? No, I don’t think so.
