4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from a Maksimarket near Rakvere in Sept 2014. BB 02/2017. It is a hazy, dark amber with a red hue; the big, frothy and bubbling head retains and laces well. It looks beautiful! The aroma... a fantastic alcoholic warmth coming through... it’s doughy, biscuity, white wine acidic, spicy, caramelly, clovey... Complex and intoxicating! Taste is quite sweet and caramelly - at first there’s some berry or fruit tartness, then gets more malty (dried apples, clove, vanilla), finishing quite boozy, grainy and dry. Medium to full body, active carbonation, sticky palate. Overall: a very enjoyable, crisp, spicy and boozy Quad.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Mainstream supermarket beer.
Not that rich and finely balanced taste that you’re expecting from beers like these.
U can get better quadruple’s for the same price in the Belgian supermarkets.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, tasted 100ml during Beer 2014 festival tasting. Served very lightly chilled, too warm for my liking, and this probably hart my rating of it.
Pours rich reddish brown with grayish head. Aroma of very sweet malts and sweet caramel, very complex. Very lightly carbonated with a very full thick body. Taste is sweet, with almost no bitterness and not a trace of sourness. Tastes very alcoholic and heavy, sweet liqueur, almost cloying (those flavors were probably enhanced by the warm serving temp). More flavors of choclate, dried fruits, dark malts. After taste is sticky sweet. This is a good beer, but was just too sweet, alcoholic and heavy - I will taste it again in better conditions.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Monoprix, Nice. Hazy copper-amber colour, no head. Easy drinking for a 10% ale, but the strength hits you after a while, however it’s fine Trappist style which is slightly dry whilst still packing in plenty of flavour certainly masks this.

Poured from bottle into a chalice glass
Appearance – The beer pours a slightly darker amber color with a small half finger or less white head. The head fades very quickly leaving only a spotty level of lace on the side of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is biggest of a white grape smell mixed with a good deal of alcohol. This gives it a very white wine like smell overall. Unlike wine however, other subtle aromas of an earthy hop and some spicy smells of pepper and clove are mixed within giving it a slightly boozy and Belgian like wine smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins mainly of a mix of a grapy and malty flavor initially. There are some flavors of an apple and cherry flavor mixed with these with the start of the taste, which seem to fade as the taste advances more to the middle and the end. Along with the dwindling of the cherry and apple, the breadiness of the beer lessens, producing a more dry and crisp flavor on the tongue. While all these flavors lose ground, the grapy flavor grows quite a bit stronger in taste and are joined by flavors of a more tanniny bitterness as well as flavors of alcohol. These flavors give the brew a more white wine like flavor which is combined with some flavor of a pepper and spicy nature as well as some earthy and pine hop tastes. In the end the combination of flavors produces a crisp spiced and hopped wine like flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is on the thinner side for a brew of 10 % abv with a carbonation level that is average to slightly above average. The body really suits the wine like flavors as well as the hop flavors nicely to produce a crisp champagne like feel, all the while keeping it a very drinkable brew even with all its alcohol and boozy tastes.
Overall – A rather boozy and crisp quad with a whole lot of sparkling wine like characteristic. I was actually originally expecting something with more dark fruit flavors, so this was quite a surprise. It was rather interesting and nice and is certainly worth a try, although I think it is not really my thing ,and I think there are tastier quads out there.
